Also, yanks opted into Britton’s 2022 season, which locks him in for two more years. Back of the pen stays intact with a solid 7-8-9 bridge with Green-Britton-Chap. Loaisiga and Cessa took steps forward in 2020. Hoping to see those two really take on a bigger role to allow for the big 3 to not be worn out. The pen is full of very hard throwers (Cessa and Loaisiga can get to or near 100mph). Might need to look into another lefty out there (Brad Hand night slip to us!).

Looks like the possibilities of a non tender or deal of Sanchez are growing. Far more rumblings about moving on from him. Maybe he’s a change of scenery guy, but his absolutely abysmal 2020 solidified it for me. He’s got two years of control left, so it’s not like he’s some rookie who needs more reps. He gets exposed every time he hits and if a pitcher throws anything away or off speed, he cannot hit it. It’s time for him to find another spot and if he dominates there, good for him.

It was a 60 game season, so not a lot of guys put up high marks on more games. Frazier had a great season. No question. He’s set to become the Yanks primary LFer. He should defend the position well and his bat should take off. I’m glad to see the level of work he put in. I’ll say the trade of Miller bore some long term fruit here

Dominguez’ workouts are starting to make it to YouTube and other platforms. This kid is 17, but is built like a truck. Strong as an ox, fast as an elite sprinter, can hit the ball out of any part of the park from both sides and has a cannon for an arm. If he avoids injury, this kid is poised for greatness. I don’t deal him for anyone here. His talent and potential is just too high. Been a rough year for prospect followers. No games to track, players separated from each other. Players have been given their workout routines and instruction on what they need to do, which will hurt some guys who really needed the reps. Yanks farm was in a really good position with some lower level talent coming in. I hope the lay-off doesn’t stymie them

He’d be real cheap, why not? But the winning move is Hand. He’s on short control at relatively cheap money for his prime production. Right now, his contract looks like a burden with profits gone due to covid. But if you snag him, hold him through the spring and move him before the deadline, he could end up being the top reliever on the market. Heck, we got Gleyber for an expiring elite reliever contract.

You cannot look at things in a vacuum. Mookie was entering his final year of control on a team that needed a rebuild. For a prime player, a rebuild isn’t exactly what you want to be a part of. No wonder Mookie “didn’t want to stay”. Why would he. He found a suitor with pockets just as large who was on the cusp of winning a title. He gets a ring, the Sox get a top 50 prospect and their RF for the next 5 seasons who will be a top or middle of the order hitter. Lamenting the loss of Mookie is one thing, but not seeing the reality and the fact that Bloom did incredibly well here is just sour grapes. 2020 would have sucked for the Sox with Mookie as well. Then, he would have been a FA and you could have gotten a 32nd draft pick rather than what you got this time around. The fact that you found a younger replacement under cheap control who can be an above average to all star level player is a great move. Snagging Downs with him is a winning GM move. Moving half of Price’s bloated contract is an elite move. As a GM, players are assets. You want to sell high on them, pay them less than their worth and move on before they become negative value. Bloom is an expert at this. The Mookie deal was straight up gold

I’d have to believe a one year deal with Brad Hand is really tempting. $10 mil for an elite closer is not bad. Heck, you pick him up, use him for half a season, then deal him for major prospects at the deadline, when covid should be mitigated with a vaccine and revenues start rushing back in.

Dombrowski can take an underperforming star laden team and make them win. The Phillies should be better. That isnt a bad spot for DD

Traded prospects are traded prospects. Their value doesnt essentially equate to what they became, but to what it was at the time of the deal. The biggest sin from DD was that he burned a wave to win a title and didnt work hard enough to ensure another wave was there to even supplement the stars with league average talent. There was such a gulf from the A level talent to the minor league talent that the team grew top heavy and unable to endure any tumult

Cavan, Gurriel, Bo, and Vlad are really, really good and a hell of a building block for the future. Ryu is a good #2. I definitely, 100% think the Jays are the dark horse for Bauer. They are a starter and a closer away from making some real noise

If the Rays jump up early, I can forsee Roberts punting Game 6 and resting his big performers. Starting Gonsolin certainly gives the impression that Game 6 is a "throw s*** against the wall" game for LA. If it sticks, then roll with it. If it doesnt, youve got the hammer waiting on full rest in game 7

2021 will be an addition of talent year. I think you will see the sox add some talent, spend some money, but I doubt they try or even come close to the Yanks, Jays or Rays in the division. I think some of that will be by design. I would anticipate Bloom will further sell off some short term assets and deepen the pool of talent in the system. Some of that should grow into starting roles by 2022, when I would expect more money to fall off the table and more dead weight to be cut. THAT is the time you will see Bloom pounce. As by then, the Yanks will have some difficult decisions to make, the Rays will have dealt away a lot of their now talent and the Jays will be coming into their own. That is the year to target, and one I think Henry is targeting as well. I highly, highly doubt the sox are even playoff contenders next year. Trust the process here. Bloom is the right guy

DD brought in some flawed talent. He didn't have any real big INTL signees and no real draft steals to say the least. Now that flawed talent may turn into amazing players, but he certainly didnt seem to treat the minors or the draft or the INTL period as anything other than an annoyance

The Dodgers are going Gonsolin then Buehler. The Rays are going Snell and Morton, so for the final two games, the advantage is clearly with the Rays in total. The Dodger's advantage is they only need to win a single game

You can’t count the Rays out of anything. With Arozarena turning into a man child, their offense is now difficult to defend. They can already pitch, run, and field. Should be exciting

What nobody seems to want to face is the state of the Sox at the time of said extension. The Sox sucked this year. They sucked last year. They’re probably gonna suck next year too. Mookie turning down the extension is going to be a blessing in disguise for the Sox. Your biggest bang for your buck on massive contracts usually comes up front. What’s the point of spending $35 mil a year if the first couple years, the team won’t be good. You make that deal if you’re on the cusp. You don’t make that deal if your team is a collection of s***

Don’t underestimate drafting 4th in the rule V. Teams with good records or good farms usually don’t burn 40 man slots on Rule V guys. The Sox, otoh, might end up selecting a few players.

The Sox farm has improved under Bloom. Some other farms have tanked around them. Bloom has likely brought boston from 29 into the 22-25 range. With boston choosing 4th in May, he should be able to bring the Sox into the 10-15 range

If you watched Frazier from this year to last, his issue isn’t that he lacks range. His issue was that he took the most circuitous route to the ball. This year, his routes were really solid, something he’s been working on all year. They’ll need to keep working with him clearly, as LF in YS is no joke. But he’s improved defensively, his offense hit another level and he finally looks like he belongs. He is set to have a great 2021

The thing that never made sense was that he was considered a plus defender in the minors and then he was just out of his f***ing mind in the bigs. Once he calmed down, he’s become a hell of a player. He will be in the more spacious LF next year, and I definitely know he can handle it. That’ll be a pretty solid OF if Hicks’ decline was sample size related. We will have a bigger issue if Hicks needs to be moved off CF
