  1. What are they? Damon is a TERRIBLE CFer. AND, Matsui cannot play LF on a chronic basis. We arent getting Beltran. McLouth is not coming to NY. Here are the FA options. Kotsay- wouldnt mind it, but Cameron is better Cameron- probably the best option all around Griffey- he isnt an OFer anymore Edmonds- he wont come to NY and he is a s***** CFer right now Patterson- he is Cameron without the power, patience, or defense DaVanon, Matos, Clark, etc. They suck.
  2. Even if we had Johan, I dont think we make it to the ALDS. And even if we did, this team wouldnt have done enough to win the WS. Nobody cares if you get a participation banner. Only the rings matter
  3. we need a stop gap, that much is for certain. And it isnt like Cameron doesnt work walks. He's walked 193 times over the last 3 yrs. Its the BA that drives the OBP down. But what I'd want to see is if he can still go get it. If he doesnt have that great fielder's instinct and first step, then I dont want him. We need a CFer with a good arm AND solid range. Gardner has the range, not so much on the arm. Melky has the arm, but not the range. Jackson has both but isnt ready yet. Cameron would be a solid addition on the defensive side while providing power at the bottom of the order. The only other options are either in house or Mark Kotsay, who is in obvious decline. Aned the in house options include Melky, who had the worst season of any yankee OFer ever, Gardner, who is a notoriously slow starter and should get his work in at AAA before a mid yr callup, and Jackson, who did well in AA but obviously needs one more yr of seasoning
  4. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10232008/sports/yankees/yanks_plans_may_include_cameron_134825.htm I would be interested, but not at the expense of a pick and not for anything more than 1-2 yrs.
  5. I can smell the blood in the water already. Shaug is gonna go nuts soon. "Vtek's leadership is overrated, he cannot hit, his arm is a noodle, his pitching staff handles themselves, they dont need Vtek anymore, etc". If Boras is asking for a multiyr deal, theo should shake his hand, say, you were awesome, but we're going in another direction and move on. Tek on anything more than a 1 yr deal is a massive gamble. You may be looking back on the days of the .220AVG and .672OPS fondly after he flirts with the mendoza line for a few yrs
  6. No, Bleich and Brackman are in the HWL. For those levelled AA or higher, they go to the AFL. For those A+ and lower, they go to the HWL.
  7. I'll take Hamels over nearly anyone in the series. But the Shields, Garza, Sonnanstine is stronger than Myers, Moyer, Blanton IMO. I have a feeling this one makes it back to Tampa at the very least.
  8. No, that is bad. That is very bad. One of the interesting things about joint surgeries is that the joint space is so vulnerable for infection that those who operate on ACL's and knee replacements typically do so in a helmet that keeps their breath from getting around the mask and into the wound. The orthopods are very scared of joint infections. For good reason. They are very hard to treat without reopening and anything that was introduced during the initial surgery is compromised. The hardware that was placed becomes the harborer of the infectious organisms and it needs to come out. The graft itself is likely not the culprit, but the two screws needed to secure the graft in place likely is. If the infection is as bad as they say, he might require removal of the graft, antibiotics for a couple weeks and then another ACL reconstruction once the joint has calmed down.
  9. Bleich has now thrown 2 straight starts with no runs allowed. 12.2IP 7H 0ER 11K 0BB in his last 2. Also, Brackman put it together last start, 5IP 5H 1ER 5K 1BB.
  10. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view.bg?articleid=1127036 I thought they would.
  11. they tanked the end of the yr by resting their guys because their lead was so big. If they truly went for it, they would have won more games. This isnt f***ing calculus here.
  12. Casey Kelly is raw. But his raw tools project to be very very solid, while Diaz' raw tools project him as a utility guy.
  13. I just read an article out of SD saying that Towers isnt even negotiating with AL teams as Peavy has not given him the green light to do so. Towers was even quoted as saying it is a futile effort right now until Peavy and his agent give the green light. And btw, Peavy made a comment to the same reporter that likely means Peavy wont see any of our teams. He apparently hates the northeast.
  14. right now, no question. But with the kind of amenities that the new stadium has as well as the money about to be poured into the market, that can change quickly.
  15. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/derek-lowe-interested-in-red-sox-not-yankees-report-says-163323.html Interesting, they ran him out of town, published the details on his late night excursions and he still wants to return.
  16. I have been having the same argument with yankee fans on pinstripes plus about Ramiro Pena. He has a plus glove and plus range but projects to hit .250-.270 with no power. Unless your rotation is 5 deep with sinkerballers, you'd be taking the hit there.
  17. Also, Lowell will be 35 prior to the season as well as rehabbing from surgery on the major weight bearing joint. While someone with Lowell's toughness will be tough to kill, sometimes father time and injury have a way of taking down someone's performance regardless of the heart (See Varitek). While I dont think he'll be useless this upcoming yr, I dont think he'll be the Lowell of yrs past. But we'll see. Recovery is so variable when the hip is involved that he could be relegated to bench duty or have a career yr. We shall see.
  18. to say it is successful after surgery is one thing. What they mean is that they were able to anatomically realign the joint and the tendon and there werent any complication in the operating room. Whether or not this surgery is truly a success will be determined by whether the hip rehabs well enough to be useful, whether he avoids infection, etc. Those things may not be answered for half a yr or more
  19. wow, I totally agree with Gom here
  20. the surgeon general doesnt see the chronic drunks I do
  21. I have said before that the sheath itself in the forearm is very rarely solely damaged as it is tightly adhered to the tendon. Then again, partially torn tendons can heal with R&R. And to be honest with you, his wrist looked fine, it was his mechanics that were off
  22. not true. The lethal acute limit is about 1.5, that is where the alcohol itself causes a metabolic derangement that is lethal. Respiratory depression in a rookie drinker is in the .3-.45 range. But for chronic drinkers, they withdraw in the .2 range and live in the .35-.45 range
  23. Most chronic drunks are bombed around .400. I have had a guy talking to me when he was at >.600
