  1. JD Drew, lol. Surprised he didnt break his glass ankles there. And Sweeney should have scored on that one
  2. He's throwing pretty slow tonight. Is he just pacing himself or has this been the norm
  3. Masterson's slider is filthy tonight.
  4. rotoworld is speculating that he was hurt tonight. He was f***ing awful tonight
  5. Gardner is batting .296 with a .327OBP. Not great, but a good enough start to see if he can be useful
  6. this is a stupid, reactionary post. Fact is, at the time of injury, Wang had been the winningest pitcher in either division over the last 2.5 yrs. You dont do that by accident. Something is wrong with him right now. I did not get to see the game, but my guess, once again is that he couldnt keep the sinker down.
  7. Meche and Guthrie are quality. Uehara might also be quality. He was tough.
  8. Interestingly enough, Coke's lack of velocity is being talked about a lot on Yankee forums. That was the big buzz around him this time last yr was that he came out of MiLB ST throwing smoke. He typically sat 88-90 prior to 08. Last yr, he was sitting 91-93 as a starter and by the time he converted to relief, he was 93-95. I didnt see him much in ST, but thus far in his 3 BP stints, he hasnt broken 90 all that much. If he indeed is experiencing a drop in velocity, then his utility as a lefty specialist drops significantly.
  9. Joba looked good, especially in the rain. That slider was nasty aside from one hanger to Buck. The heater, although about 3-4 mph slower than his pen days, was on point and commanded rather well. His line should have been 6IP 1ER, but the KC official scorer has a difficult time pulling the E button, even when the ball goes through 2 players' legs. We were able to take advantage of a Royal mistake to take the lead. And Coke didnt have it once again. What are you gonna do? I couldnt be happier with this team 6 games in. Yeah, the record is meh, but look at the games. Game 1- we hit pretty well, CC just didnt have it Game 2- Wang didnt have it, we hit pretty well again Game 3- Burnett was on point and we hit well Game 4- Pettitte was on point and we hit well Game 5- CC was on point and we hit well Game 6- we didnt hit well, Joba was solid, Coke blew it. The first two games were first starts of the season for CC (new team) and Wang (first start post injury). CC has rectified that start. Wang will try tonight. Other than the first 2 games, we got solid starts in all 4 since. Aside from Coke, our pen has allowed only 3ER in 11IP. And, our offense has been pretty good, even though we have played 2 games sans Tex, one game sans Damon, and 6 games sans ARod. If the starting pitching can keep throwing innings and if the offense can keep hitting, then we'll be fine. We're just gonna have to make a decision soon if Coke needs some minor league time. Hell, Melancon is knockin on the door.
  10. I think Spring Training quelled some fears about the sox brass "ruining" his delivery. Its the first start of the spring. You cannot read too much into it if the pitcher doesnt have location. Hell, Price looked awful in start #1.
  11. Phelps dominated. 5.2IP 3H 0ER 4K 0BB Venditte chalked up his second save. Lassiter paced the offense with a 3 for 4 day.
  12. Hughes had a pretty good start for #1 of the yr. 6IP 6H 3ER 2BB 6K And Melancon is knocking on the door loudly. Thus far, 2G 3.2IP 0 baserunners, 7K Miranda won Player of the Week honors. 9/19 2 doubles, 2 homers, 2 walks, 11 RBI.
  13. I actually thought Lowell looked better than I expected. He's moving, he showed some power and he was able to turn on that ball in Anaheim and hit it out. Right now, I'd say that he's about as good as anyone could expect. The question is, is this his hip or is this father time causing him to slip. Or is it just a slow start, which is the most likely scenario.
  14. But Girardi has been asked about this before. And he says that he'd rather field the lineup he wants 5 out of every 6 games and have one day a week that is kinda a backup roster than field a solid lineup every day with one starter missing.
  15. I agree Crunchy. The reason why we blew it, is well Phil Coke. His velocity is down early in the yr, hopefully he proves that last yrs velocity of low to mid 90s is no fluke. But when you have essentially a rookie starter giving it his all in s*** conditions, you have to at least put a lineup out there that can play. Having Ransom, Molina, Melky as the last 3 hitters in the lineup along with Gardner is a recipe for disaster. Gardner surrounded by run producers works well because he gets on base and has speed. But he gets exposed in a lineup surrounded by scrubs. And yesterday, 4 of the 9 hitters in the lineup had no punch in the bat. That makes it extremely difficult to beat a guy like Meche, especially when he's backed by a 1-2 punch of Cruz and Soria.
  16. Melky-Ransom-Molina-Gardner. Who thought that was a good idea? I understand that you want to give Damon the day off, but how bout you do that when Posada is playing, so we dont have a massive hole at the bottom of the order?
  17. why do we even carry Melky on this team? He is awful
  18. I dont expect them to.
  19. its an absolute joke how the umps are handling this. Its pouring right now
  20. Jeter + slow track = tons of groundball hits
  21. go to a rain delay. Nobody can move right now
  22. how do they call that a hit? Right through the legs of Swisher AND Cano? Ridiculous
  23. Arent you of the belief that BA is not a useful stat? Cmon now ORS, be consistent. If you are going to sit there and say that batting average is not useful when it supports your argument and then use it as the basis of another argument, then you are being a hypocrite. Which one is it? If you are of the belief that BABIP is the way to go, then Swisher will be a pretty damn good replacement for Abreu. If batting average is the way to go and if a player has a career yr and it should be considered their new baseline (as you have advocated), then Nady is the better player. Which one is it ORS?
  24. This Gardner kid is so f***ing fast. NICE! 1-0 yankees
