  1. Regardless, I think the FO got caught with their pants down and their pitching staff is bailing them out. If Lowell misses a big chunk of time, or plays but is rendered ineffective, then the bottom of that order becomes a massive sink. Varitek moves into the middle of the order and the bottom of the order becomes a sink with Ellsbury, Green and Lowrie. All guys who wont be on base more than 35% most of the time most likely and all guys who offer minimal to no power whatsoever. Lowrie as a 3b is just an awful option.
  2. Three consecutive seasons
  3. small sample sizes again dutchy. I am not praising him for anything. I am just saying that he has a better chance of hitting the longball than our current cast of bench characters
  4. Morris did not do it. He was in the WS in 91, 92, and 93, but 92 and 93 were with Toronto.
  5. The first high school draftee for NY signed. Judd Golsan from the 31st round inked a deal. Specifics are not included, but Golsan was considered a top 10 round talent. He's a wiry, 6'1 center fielder with a plus arm and great speed and an advanced bat. He is expected to develop power. He dropped due to his commitment to the Tide and his bonus demands. No other news at this time. But it looks like the yankees took a lot of college signability cases with a lot of players asking for over slot money. That means that Ny could have a flurry of deals announced right at the deadline since Selig typically delays signings that are over slot in the first 10 rounds
  6. He certainly wont be playing a vital role. I just think of him as an insurance policy for a few positions. For Damon in LF if need be, for Matsui at DH and for ARod at 3rd. He's not great, but I do think he can hit a few into the yankee seats in RF when needed. He offers something that nobody on our bench can offer. Power.
  7. It would be interesting if the yankees made it to the WS. Has a player ever been to 3 consecutive WS's with 3 different clubs? That being said, we gave up nothing. Fryer was a guy we got for Chase Wright who has shown the ability to walk, thats about it. And Erickson was a late round pick in 2006 who was repeatedly passed over by better prospects.
  8. Hinske can offer the occasional long ball. I am not expecting much, but he also gives us an option at 3rd when Arod needs a day off.
  9. Lowrie never showed he could play with the big boys on a consistent basis. Last yr, he put up a .258/.339/.400 line, which isnt great and if he's expected to play 3rd, it is terrible. Now, after a serious wrist injury, he's expected to do better? How bout his track record in the minors. Good, but not the best in the world in terms of OPS (.825) and he never had much in the way of power. He is what he is. A switch hitter with good patience and not much past that. He'd fit at the SS position offensively. But pairing him with Nick Green on the left will be awful
  10. figured you'd like that
  11. Burnett has been streaky, but he typically gets better as the season goes on. I expect him to really continue to be dominant for the most part as the season wears on
  12. Draining fluid from his hip means that there was inflammation in the area. Not good especially after someone just had surgery. I would assume that over time, the fluid would reaccumulate and cause more issues. The lubricant shot is a short lived thing. Over time, it gets absorbed and the hip gets back to what it was. In short, this is a temporizing measure. But with the fact that he's having a good amount of inflammation and fluid in the joint, I think he goes under the knife again after the season.
  13. you never start with your best offer. That being said, you dont start with an insulting offer.
  14. TK, I have a feeling we'll have an ALCS rematch. Something that eats 10 days of my life. Even though we cannot seem to get off the schneid vs you guys thus far, I expect it to go 7 games as usual.
  15. he'll go to free agency then
  16. Burnett is coming around, regardless of what the peanut gallery thinks. Over his last 6 starts, he's gone 6 or more innings 5 times. The only time he didnt was vs the Sox His line over the last 6 is: 36IP 26H 7ER 20BB 42K Still too many walks, but that comes out to a 1.27WHIP, 1.75ERA, and 10.5K/9IP. He's starting to slot in as a true #2 to CC's #1. And if Joba continues his recent success, we might end up with a pretty potent 1-4 when its all said and done, regardless of what Wang settles out as
  17. I have no problem with somebody acting akin to their upbringing or their racial or ethnic class. I just find him disingenuous because is seems incredibly forced and some of the stuff he says just sounds ridiculously stupid.
  18. he is such a putz. He overplays his blackness to a point of uncomfortability. Stu seems like a rich kid who now tries to get back to the street. Boo-Yaa Pickin up some bunnies wit da badooka dunk etc..
  19. I want to punch stewart scott in his lazy eye
  20. "The Yankees are on a roll and the Red Sox have stumbled a bit of late..." Those words were uttered by Joe Morgan. This after the sox have won 6 of 8
  21. Save #500. Kickass
  22. 2 run lead, best closer in the history of the game on the mound, day off tomorrow. Close it out Mo.
