  1. This is incredible
  2. That was the game there. Tex-ARod-Matsui coming up to put it away. Hughes then Mo if he has any trouble. #27 is so close I can feel it
  3. I am working right now, but we have a TV in the break room. Awesome, just incredibly awesome
  4. Thats probably the low end of the ballpark for Holliday. But they would still be in the game.
  5. As a former pitcher, the way they are pitching Utley is embarassing. Lefty on Lefty should be squarely in the corner of the pitcher. But when you dont make him respect the inside fastball, he can just sit on something out over the plate. CC tried to come inside with the heat, but kept leaving it out over the plate. Coke didnt even try to come inside. And Burnett couldnt keep the ball from running down the middle. Utley is hitting really well, but I put that more at the shoes of our pitching staff than at the shoes of Utley being amazing. The amount of pitchers we are hanging to him are insane
  6. 5yr 14 mil per season. That was a big contract at the time. I see Holliday surpassing that by 2 yrs and 4-6 mil per season
  7. I disagree with you guys on this one. I think getting another starter is pretty important for Boston. As it stands, the sox rotation will be Beckett-Lester-Buchholz-DiceK-Wakefield. I have said all along that having 3 starters that you can count on for innings is a really good way to win. NY got it this yr with CC-Burnett-Pettitte. For the sox, DiceK is an injury ?, Buchholz is essentially entering his first full season as a major league starting pitcher so he is a ?, and Wakefield is an injury ?. If the sox fielded that rotation, then there would be a significant likelihood that 30+ starts would be lost between them (either with Buch struggling or Dice and Wake hurting). There needs to be a 3rd guy who they can count on for 200IP, even if they arent top notch innings.
  8. I guess its a matter of semantics. Once Bay became adamant about going to FA, I consider him to be gone. So I am basing my comments on the sox team that is currently under contract.
  9. Wait, so pointing out that the sox prospects have sucked in the AFL is biased? Look at the stats and try to say otherwise. I'm waiting.
  10. I would find it INCREDIBLY tough for the sox to part with Beckett for 2010. The sox are still a team that is likely to make the playoffs assuming they fill their holes adequately this offseason. Dealing away Beckett in what would amount to a prospect grab would be incredibly disheartening for sox fans in general. And in this market, that would be construed as forfeiting a season, which would do a lot to alienate the FO.
  11. I MUST be wrong, as per usual I guess, right? Cause it isnt like NY had their injuries either. We lost Wang for the entire season early on. We were without ARod for a month. We lost Posada for a month as well. Blaming injuries solely is a great way to overlook your deficiencies. NY lost 2 months of elite performance at positions that were covered by well below average offensive players and then their best pitcher over the past 3 seasons and won the division by 8 games. If you think adding DiceK back is going to get you over the hump, then, well there's a bridge I have for sale for you. Remember my caveat. Without MAJOR tweaking. Lets say that the sox stand pat on the mound and add Abreu to the OF. Lets just say that's the plan for the offseason. Then you are talking about a 35yr old in LF, a 34yr old in RF, a 36 yr old 3b who looked like a cripple as the yr went along, and a 34 yr old DH who looked like a shell of himself. I am just putting even money out there that the injury bug will hit us both evenly.
  12. WEEI is already reporting that Beckett isnt likely to take a home town discount.
  13. It is easy to say that when your prospects arent doing well. It is a small sample size, but it is a collection of some of the league's best prospects and it is a nice measuring stick. That being said, it is an extreme hitter's league right now.
  14. It depends IMO. He isnt going to Mo for more than 2 innings, thats for sure. Cause if he does, then he blows him for a potential game 7 should we lose. I am all about going for the jugular, but we need to also keep in mind that we dont need to have an all hands on deck kind of game. I think Pettitte for 5IP with some combo of Hughes-Aceves-Joba-Marte should get us to the 8th
  15. I agree, it is way too early. I expect NY to patch their holes well enough to stay in the lead. I expect Boston to kick a TON of tires this offseason and for there to be some serious rumors hanging around from here until April. But how many of those tires get purchased will determine the sox fate. If they get a guy like Abreu for LF and dont upgrade anywhere else, I think they are in danger of losing out on the playoffs. If they do something more, then I think a wild card spot is a pretty good bet
  16. I dunno example. Theo was all about dumping Manny mostly based on the contract, then based on his behaviour. Theo likes flexibility and getting Holliday limits that severely. Holliday is gonna get a 6-7 yr deal at 18-20 mil plus coin. That just doesnt seem like a Theo move.
  17. Halladay is not a good play for Boston IMO, especially if they have any care to resign Beckett. If the hope is to get Halladay and sign him long term while letting Beckett go, then so be it. I think Beckett is gone after 2010. He's going to look for top dollar. Some team will pay him top dollar. I just dont think it will be Boston
  18. NY is getting a pretty good run out of their players. Kennedy is pitching pretty well with a high K rate and a WHIP under 1. Romine was hitting .400 in 8 games before dislocating a finger and getting removed from the roster. Laird and Curtis are hitting the piss out of the ball.
  19. It was a salary dump for TB. Now, Zobrist takes the 2b position and they can fill their OF slots internally.
  20. I think Game 6 is gonna be another slugfest. Pettitte on short rest is a bit dicey, but Pedro in Yankee Stadium a second time around with the nothing he was throwing in game 2 is likely to be disastrous as well. I see both pitchers out of the game come inning #6 and I see a battle of the pens. For NY, they just need to rack up the pitch count on Pedro, but I think they might hit him all over the yard, especially with the DH back in play. If they get Pedro to 100 pitches rather early, then the bubbly will be flowin in NY tomorrow. If they let Pedro off the hook by chasing pitches early, then we'll be playing on Thursday.
  21. well, gotta be up in 6 hours, so I am watching this one in bed. G'night all
  22. Why arent we hitting this f***er?
