  1. If the intention all along was to give Gardner a season to see what kind of player he can become and Winn is relegated to bench duty, then that changes everything IMO. Winn as a 4th OFer is very solid due to his switch hitting ability and his defense. But if he was signed to compete as a starter, then this is just a bad, bad move.
  2. I would rather have Brett Gardner play than Winn. Granted, Winn will probably see a bump up in homers from his career low of 2, but he really was a guy whose game was predicated on speed whose legs have slowed up a bit. Sounds like Cashman and Theo are up on the same crackup up theory about defense in LF. At least in NY, you could try to pretend to justify it due to death valley. Regardless, I thought we were headed to a Damon redux with him signed to a 1yr 5mil or so deal. Regardless, my prediction for Winn is that he is on another team come June. He's my least favorite option of the three when you include Damon and Dye.
  3. a700, you might as well drop it. He's like a defense lawyer. His client had the murder weapon on him, there was a photo of him entering the building prior to the murder and bloody clothes were found at his home, but it could have been another person! Three parties had access to this info. The Mets make no sense in leaking it, since it would hurt them. Bay had no need to leak this, and he essentially issued a rebuttal after it came out. And then there are the Red Sox who get to shade the whole debachle in a rosy red light with this info. Add to that, the fact that Gammons was the one who broke it. Hell, he's pretty much a Red Sox FO schill but in the media. He's John Heyman to Scott Boras when it comes to the Red Sox.
  4. Nah, .300 45HR 130RBI and an MVP trophy
  5. Unreal. I have gone through the list of players they have smeared and you still dont think they run smear campaigns? Really? Of course they dont, because they operate with sunshine and lollipops and win the WS every yr, right?
  6. I gave him s*** for it, thats for sure. I had never seen someone so talented come up so small in big situations as consistently as ARod. This past yr was a nice surprise
  7. Both teams do
  8. No, its more: "You dont have a basic understanding of the working world, so you mustnt be old enough to have a job."
  9. Honestly, having any conversation with you is impossible. Logic clearly escapes you. Prior to the Yankees winning the 2009 World Series, the entire focus of this yankees section was ARod's choking. Now that he's a hero, it never happened?
  10. BUT THE RED SAWX DONT HAVE A SPIN MUCHINE!!
  11. Really? Are you trying to argue logic here, cause hiding your head in the sand and ignoring the obvious isnt logical
  12. a700 brought up the why though. If Bay lost money due to that disclosure, they could have been liable for his lost wages
  13. a700, you might be the only red sox fan with levity on this site. Logic people.
  14. I have no idea what the hell he is doing with that troll.
  15. The point is, there was constant pressure on him from the fans, the media, etc that he couldnt do anything about in the regular season. IE, it just built up. Are you really arguing that ARod had no extra pressure on him prior to winning the title? He f***ing cried during the acceptance of his award this week. That should tell you how much pressure he was under.
  16. Obviously, every season is different. But the only pressure that ARod will have will be generated from his 2010 season. He wont be carrying the pressure of 2004, 2005, etc. I am predicting a monster season from ARod. I am talking MVP caliber season
  17. Less pressure on him period. During the season, everyone said that what he does in the regular season doesnt matter since his problems are in the postseason. It used to be that any clutch situation was a problem for him. Now, there are no kinks in the armor. He is finally free.
  18. A lab tech? Wow, I missed that one. Find me a lab tech who can read subtle MRI findings. I dare you
  19. Throws multiple pitches, has good composure, college trained. And I think eventually, he'll develop control over his off-speed pitches but sacrifice some break for control.
  20. You do not think ARod was pressing at all prior to this previous post-season? You do not think there was pressure on ARod for his performances in the "clutch". Cmon now, that's just stupid
  21. The benefit is the monkey that is off his back. Clutch factor may or may not exist, but the pressure he was under definitely affected him.
