White Sox pre- and postgame show host Chris Rongey was whining, both on Facebook during the game and on the postgame show, about the fans booing Juan Pierre for making some boneheaded plays. He said booing hurts the players' psyche. He and I got into a sprited exchange on Facebook about it. He even alluded to one player (wouldn't name names, just said 'he's loved by the fans') saying he wouldn't mind a trade because of the booing.
1. Pro athletes know they live under a microscope, even more so nowadays with the advent of smartphones and social media like Facebook and Twitter. If their egos were as fragile as he believes they are, they would've quit long ago. No professional athlete got to this level being handled with kid gloves all the time.
2. This guy's a wuss. Thanks to the internet, I've listened to several other teams' postgame shows, including Red Sox and Yankees. Comparatively speaking, we're pretty freakin' nice. If this guy tried hosting a postgame show for you guys, he'd last five minutes before he ran home crying to his mommy.
