I think we have a legitimate shot the make the post season. Reasons?
The Schedule: If we can survive this roadtrip, our remaining schedule consists of 18 home games 11 road games, the road games being: 4 vs. NY, 3 vs. BAL, 4 vs. TOR
The Yankees: We have 4 remaining games against the Yankees. Sure, you say, the Yankees are better than us. But if you have not noticed, skill level doesn't take the front seat in differences in our games against the Yankees. If we go into that series confident and on a roll, we can take 3 of 4.
The wild card: Win tonight, there is a good chance we will just be 3 games back of Chicago or Minnesota in the wild card. That is not an insurmountable lead.
Games between MIN and CHW: There are a lot of them. One could most definitely knock the other out, or, even better, they could split, and we could get semi-hot, and gain some ground on them.
Chicago's schedule:
at Detroit (2 after tonight) .640
vs Minnesota (3) .585
vs Tampa (3) .400
at KC (3) .357
at Boston (3) .556
vs Cleveland (4) .455
at LA (3) .528
at Oakland (3) .568
vs Detroit (3) .640
vs Seattle (4) .452
at Cleveland (3) .455
at Minnesota (3) .585
combined opponents winning percentage (not exactly accurate, as not everyone has played the same # of games, and the White Sox do not play each team the same amount) is .518.
Minnesota could very well collapse with the lack of Liriano.
All I am trying to say is DO NOT COUNT OUT OUR SOX.
