  1. Nah Tavarez is a good spot starter...
  2. I wouldn't deal Bill James for Brian Cashman.

  4. Are you joking? It's a very good major league player, or a kid who with the right development, right treatment and everything, might become as good as the major league talent.
  5. Trot can't hit lefties. He can hit righties.
  6. A 35 year old outfielder is what you call someone like Bernie Williams (He's a little older I know). Used to be good, sucks now. Manny Ramirez is one of the best hitters in baseball. He hasn't really shown signs of decline at all...he's always an MVP candidate. He led the AL in OBP and was 2nd in OPS. 5th in BB, 4th in SLG, 8th in HR and BA. But of course he isn't worth a couple prospects.
  7. I like him, but he's not on Soriano echelon at all...as noted in the Bill Hall thread, his power will probably come down to 20-25 homers. He had 8 steals last year. He had a damn good OPS, but strike out a lot, and he doesn't walk a lot.
  8. Give up a f***ing draft pick. Once again, as a700hitter would say, it's just a chance that they'll become as good as Lugo...while Lugo is as good as Lugo. I would obviously rather have the draft pick than not have the draft pick, but don't have it come down to Cora and a 1st rounder or Lugo.
  9. I will say this...if we get Broxton, Billingsley and Loney/Kemp, which is the idea scneario IMO in any Manny to Dodgers trade, this team will be very good in 2008. Schilling and Wake will be gone but: Beckett, Matsuzaka, Papelbon, Billingsley, FA. Thats a real good rotation, if everything pans out. The offense would be pretty poor this year, but if we get Loney, he'd play 1st, Youk at 3rd, Pedroia at 2nd, Lugo at SS, an outfield of Pena, Coco and Drew, and Papi. Not a bad offense, definitely in the upper half of the AL. We would also have our closer for years to come in Jonathan Broxton. If we get Peavy and Gonzalez, as is the latest "proposal" on ESPN.com's Rumor Central, we would have the best rotation in baseball this year, almost without a doubt. Schilling, Peavy, Matsuzaka, Beckett and Papelbon...that would get us into the playoffs without Manny. Gonzalez is a guy whose name I heard floating around last off-season as a possible first baseman. He is 24, and last year he posted a .304/24/82 campaign with a .862 OPS (higher than Adam Dunn). He would play 1st and quite possibly bat cleanup. He is no Manny, I know, but who knows, he could keep developing and post numbers that will make us forget Manny. I do NOT want to trade Manny, but those are the two options if we do (it seems), and I would not hate either of them.
  10. Yeah I wasnt saying a deal was possible, just guys I would trade Hughes for, without hesitation.
  11. Either take out Buchholz or make em add Danks. I don't wanna deal Youk either. Correct me if I'm wrong but was Arias not the PTBNL in the A-Rod trade?
  12. Going out on the limb, eh. I think it's safe to say that a monkey might blossom out of my heinie at 9:56 PM tonight. I kid, I kid. Again, I hope we don't deal him...but if we do, I think the Dodgers can give us the best package. A closer in Broxton, another excellent young starter in Billinglsey, and a good young hitter in Loney, LaRoche, or maybe Ethier?
  13. If I were the Yankees, I would deal Hughes straight up for: Roy Halladay Johan Santana Scott Kazmir Erik Bedard (Possibly) Justin Verlander Jeremy Bonderman Francisco Liriano Dontrelle Willis Roy Oswalt Brandon Webb And thats just the starters. Why? Because Hughes has a lesser chance to become one of these players, than say, one of these players. This is something out of a700hitter's book...I would MUCH rather have major league talent that has proven they can win 14+ games with a good ERA, etc. than a prospect who COULD become better than that, but also could very well do absolutely nothing.
  14. I concur. Dontrelle Willis: 2003: 160 IP, 14-6, 3.31 ERA, 142 K, 1.28 WHIP 2004: 197 IP, 10-11, 4.02 ERA, 139 K, 1.37 WHIP 2005: 236 IP, 22-10, 2.63 ERA, 170 K, 1.13 WHIP 2006: 223 IP, 12-12, 3.87 ERA, 160 K, 1.41 WHIP Chien Ming Wang: 2005: 116 IP, 8-5, 4.02 ERA, 47 K, 1.24 WHIP 2006: 218 IP, 19-6, 3.63 ERA, 76 K, 1.30 WHIP How many of Willis' seasons were better than Wang's first? 2003 was. 2004 was about the same...lower ERA, more K, a little higher whip. 2005 was by far. 2006 was. How many of Willis' seasons were better than Wang's second? 2003 was. 2004 was a little worse. 2005 was miles better. 2006 was a little bit worse. Oh, but he pitched in the NL...if this is the f***ing criteria for every pitcher who ever moves to the AL, let's bring the Mets into the AL and have everyone else go to AAA.
  15. That would take Hughes.
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2681764 Sooner please.
  17. If Manny isn't traded, then Pena won't get much playing time, assuming Drew stays healthy (hefty assumption). We can't really sit Drew every time we face a lefty since we're paying him so much.

  19. Enough with the f***ing brackets!
  20. I'll rephrase it. The Dodgers are the most likely team to put up a package that we like. I just don't see the Padres dealing their best player, Peavy, and a good young power hitter for Manny. The Dodgers could survive without those 3 guys and with Manny, I dunno if the Padres could...although Hensley and Young are going to be good too. :dunno:
  21. If we deal him the Dodgers can supply the best package. Loney, Billingsley, Broxton?
  22. My personal favorite.
  23. Yea since the Yanks are everyone's favorite team!
