  1. Beckett will have a slight decline next year. It's basically a tossup between him and Santana for who will have a better year. And if they produce like they're expected to, it doesn't matter.
  2. I don't take stock into the W-L, because its so dependent on team performance and luck.
  3. Yeahhh not much sleep tonight.
  4. Here is the Sox rotation with this deal, with projected stats from the Bill James handbook, just for fun. Johan Santana: 16-8, 3.00 ERA, 228 K, 58 BB Josh Beckett: 14-8, 3.50 ERA, 187 K, 64 BB Daisuke Matsuzaka: 14-8, 3.54 ERA, 188 K, 64 BB Curt Schilling: 11-7, 3.54 ERA, 150 K, 25 BB Tim Wakefield: 11-9, 4.03 ERA, 123 K, 63 BB Buchholz is not projected. The Santana numbers are obviously assuming hes a Twin, since they were made previously. Excuse me, I have to go clean that up.
  5. Maybin and Miller are top notch prospects, and Willis is a big question mark. Right now its a good deal for the Tigers, but we'll see.
  6. Wow. The Guardians may have to do something hefty to respond to that. I'm worried about Dontrelle Willis though. He was bad last year in the NL East, is he going to regress further in the AL Central?
  7. Lol.
  8. We're talking insurance here, not future starters. All of those guys (maybe not well) can come in for a few games in the year and take spot starts.
  9. Uhhhh no comment.
  10. If you get to put in all those guys as insurance starters, I can use: Pauley, Hansack, Tavarez, Snyder.
  11. Santana said he'd waive it for the Sox, Yanks and Mets. EDIT: I misread that series of posts.
  12. Wow, one of the most exciting finishes. Brady with another fantastic march down the field, with the aid of some timely penalties and timeouts. #57 on Baltimore was childish and immature. If that last pass was a TD...crazy. The stadium would have erupted. 12-0 baby.
  13. 4th down, Pats to get the ball back. Word.
  14. That offensive set was pathetic. Big 3rd down here.
  15. Big 3 and out there. TD would be lovely.
  16. f***, 2 dropped passes, Gostkowski for the FG that'd make it 24-20.
  17. Thats big. Need to capitalize and tie the game here.
  18. Yeah, tonight seems like the night. The Ravens are really playing well, the Patriots are really not. Not getting a good vibe.
  19. I meant to respond to Thumper, sorry.
  20. We let em off the hook.
  21. Nah, they're not the best team ever.
  22. Interesting. Go for it.
  23. What? By that argument, wouldn't you take a pitcher over a hitter every time? Is Gil Meche better than David Ortiz because pitching wins championships? I don't know here. Both were impressive in their debuts. In 13 starts, Hughes had a 4.46 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 2.00 K/BB, 7.19 K/9. Pretty solid numbers, especially for a rookie. On the other hand, Ellsbury, in 116 at bats, had a .353 AVG and a .903 OPS. The OPS will drop to the mid .800s when the batting average regresses to normal. He also had 9 stolen bases, 15 strikeouts and 8 walks. Using those numbers, he would be on pace for 44 steals, 74 K and 39 BB. Doesn't walk much at all, so the OBP won't be more than .40 points higher than the average, putting his career norm at a likely .330-.340, which is okay. Yeah, so, tossup.
  24. That was quite the tackle. It kept looking like Watson was gonna lunge and get the first down, but Winborn kept hitting him. Yikes, Reed INT, then he fumbles it 30 or so yards after. Pats ball, lucky.
