  1. Ummm...no. I remain skeptical. Of course if and when Carter hits the bigs, even if some mix of managers, coaches, scouts, teammates, opponents, etc. conclude that he has improved defensively I have tremendous faith that you, Bill, aka Lord Kelvin, will be able to find some "metric" to rebut their claims.
  2. Shoulda known that the "metrics" would refute what many players, coaches and, IIRC, Boggs himself, had acknowledged. Shame on all of them for leading us astray when the numbers tell the real story.
  3. One could say that your statement above, calling fans idiotic for not wanting a certain player, contradicts the "great character" statement. But I'll leave that for others to judge. Now that is just silly. Because someone doesn't want a player on their team doesn't make them an idiot...perhaps it reflects that they're less concerned about winning than they are with rooting for players they like on their team. There are other points of view than your's Gom, and although you see fit to negatively label those whose thinking is different, their opinions are no less valid. Just saying.
  4. Of the 7 I'd rank Hansen 8th.
  5. The post you quoted also acknowledged his talent but stated he did not want ARod back due to character issues. I think that is a perfectly legit point of view and requires no "waking up." There were quite a few Red Sox fans that did not want him in Boston either, although they acknowledged he could make the team better, talent wise. Not sure how you can belittle someone for caring about the type of player that plays for their team.
  6. I'd respectfully disagree. Fans never OWE the owners anything and it's the other way around, IMO, provided that a team's fans are supporting their team as strongly as Red Sox fans do.
  7. Good luck, Brewers. http://www.jsonline.com/index/index.aspx?id=33
  8. wrong choice of words I suppose. More directly...I've heard a number of people say he's worth a shot because of those games where he didn't implode...and I'm saying from what I saw, even in the games where he had some success, stat wise, he looked poor. i.e. Tek sets up outside, he throws inside, Ball should be down, but its up, pitch doesn't move but it gets popped up, etc.
  9. As what? A Rodeo clown? I can hear it now..."Eric Gagne was released from his rodeo clown job here in Dallas after 4 bullriders died while he was in the ring. All 4 riders represented very probable "save" situations, however Gagne was unable to convert. In his other 12 times in the ring, Gagne was virtually lights-out, leading to talk that several other rodeo circuits think he's worth a shot." Said one rodeo analyst: "I think it was the pressure of clowning in the big rodeo market that got to him. He'll be fine in a place like Broken Arrow, Ok or Cheyenne, WY."
  10. Sean, let Mean know, from me, I hope all works out. This sucks, particularly at this time of year.
  11. duh. everyone knows they are not out of it, he fooled no one.
  12. This is excellent, gets Kazmir out of the division and the league...he was capable of (and often did) giving the Sox fits.
  13. "With the Yankees interest apparently gone" - - - geez, that's a load of crap. The longer this thing drags on the greater the chance the Yanks re-enter the discussion, IMO.
  14. Fair enough.
  15. Jay: Any idea what the drop is due to? park, league, division, weather, etc.? What are the key drivers such analysis would hinge on?
  16. Rotoworld reports now that the Yanks turned down a deal that didn't include Kennedy. Coupled with other revelations such as Kalush, per at least one report, was never mentioned as part of a package, I don't think we can believe anything that is floated out there. There are too many agendas, angles, etc. that are being worked. This has gotten quite old.
  17. You can't honestly be saying that Miller + Maybin = Bucholz + Ellsbury Miller 2007 5-5, 5.63ERA, 1.75 WHIP, 10.3H per 9. Upside, certainly, but '07 results are pedestrian at best and that WHIP is horrible.
  18. Jim Leyritz says, from his viewpoint, the Tigers are the best team in the AL now. Not quite sure about that.
  19. I was not defending a viewpoint...I was responding to a post of yours that boasted about a prediction that...from the text of YOUR own post...was well short of what even you thought was the deal currently in place. My comments were specifically based on the information you provided, which did not include the passage you're now presenting from Jacksonian, nor what you really meant, etc. Much to do over nothing. Movin' on.
  20. Like I said..then Kudos.
