  1. Now this I like. JHB, where does Yankee Stadium fall in terms of Park Factor...with the deep LF power alley but short RF porch and considering there's limited foul ball space, I wonder if its considered a nuetral park, hitter friendly, etc. Any thoughts?
  2. Thank you, SOTK. I'll try and keep 'em coming!
  3. I guess "Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.:" I bet he'll pull a hammy or a groin or hurt his back or get a blister, etc. etc. on the his way to Congress.
  4. First instructions to the Cards coaches...no fungo line drives in Matt's direction please.
  5. Couple of thoughts, Thump. (1) The acquisition of Gagne, IMO, was as much a defensive move to keep him away from the Yanks, who's BP was struggling, as it was an effort to improve Boston's pen. (2) As for Beckett, not sure about you, but I had very high expectations from him when he was first acquired...2007 was not gravy, it was what I think the Sox expected.
  6. Further, I don't see how anyone can say the Yanks late 90's run is blemished by 'roid accusations, since their competition, whoever it was, was likely loaded with players using PEDs.
  7. Wasn't Taliesin the name of Frank Lloyd Wright's residence? Charlesy Canty? She loves horse c-ck.
  8. For different fans it's likely a different reason, but you've hit on some of them above. There's another possibility....for those who also believed And Pettitte when he essentially said "wait, how many times did the trainer say I did it? 2-4? ok, then it was only twice," I'd say the reason is simple stupidity.
  9. I watched the video of Clemens explanation..."I'm mad, to tell you the truth..." The Truth? Roger can't handle the thruth! All he's done in my eyes is confirm my suspicions...he sounds and looks like a fukn liar.
  10. Sad thing is that if a group called DAMM ever took root (Drunks Against Mad Mothers) and gained a bigger following than MADD, representing more votes for politicians who supported it, pols would bend the other way...its not about what is right, its about what gets a person elected. Thus the discrepancies between levels and causes of impairment.
  11. Said Hank: "We're not desperate, so we're not going to chase anything," Steinbrenner said. "In the next two weeks, we're going to have to get everything done" Uhhhh, yah. I think we all know the timetables and such that pour from Hank's mouth don't mean much.
  12. Taliesin....i.e. Frank Lloyd Wright?
  13. I remember I joined a forum a few years ago with the name Thurm's Flight Trainer...didn't last long before my ejection.
  14. That's not a direct shot at Thurman, is it?
  15. Thanks for your post regarding Gonzo's relationship with the players you mentioned...this is along the lines of what I had read years ago that lead me to label him a juicer in an earlier post.
  16. I guess they want to bring another juicer into the mix?
  17. I think we're in agreement. As I posted earlier: "you could have guys who barely used, but were caught, kept out of the hall...and heavy users who went undetected get in simply because they got away with it. I think this can only be enforced on a prospective basis." Prospective...meaning from here on, you get caught, you're excluded from the HOF. As a side note, I'll bet the whole idea of making the HOF is an afterthought for many players. First concern is just making the bigs, other goals ramp up as the player progresses and puts up numbers. My thought is that many think if they can juice and get away with, thereby imrpoving their stats and making more money, they''ll do it...striving for the HOF likely comes much later for most....at some point where they've seen that their performance to date might have them on track for the Hall.
  18. Problem is that it allows users who weren't caught to get in. I posted earlier that you could have guys who barely used, but were caught, kept out of the hall...and heavy users who went uindetected get in simply because they got away with it. I think this can only be enforced on a prospective basis. Of course, IMO, there are probably many, many players using HGH now and they'll continue to do so until a test is introduced which catches HGH...then the chemists will develop something else. Tough issue and there are certain to be unfair results..
  19. My brother lives in Hudson, just curious...used to live on Lake Boone then moved to new development. He's not thrilled with Hudson schools far as I can tell...I think he's said Sudbury is a real nice town.
  20. You near Hudson, Ma.?
  21. Agreed, and it may be what the Sox do with the salary difference (-$20m for Manny versus the incoming LF salary) that really frames the effectiveness of the strategy.
  22. I was talking about Manny. Like I said, I know little of Bay. I agree that players will tend to trend towards their "normal performance" over time in the playoffs. My gut feeling, though, is all other things being equal, I want the guy that has been there before. This is opinion...my preference if you will...I'll take Manny in the 2008 playoffs over Bay...not sure Bay has ever played in a playoff game.
