  1. Those who brag about gittin' it usually ain't, or are insecure about their performance or have little bitty penises, or have other issues they're compensating for. Not saying you fall into any of these categories, but it might be best to drop to subject, eh?
  2. What a difference a year makes.
  3. Didn't we have a Buffalo Sabres fan in this forum around this time last year, spouting about Lindy as Coach of the Year, and how his team would win the Cup?
  4. Whats' the line on tonight's game? Hate to say it, but my money is on the legends of the toilet. Just a gut feeling.
  5. seriously, dude, what the f? But since you've opened up the door to Limerick: Tonight the Sox will face Moose, Whose wife, I am told, is quite loose, She is queen of the skanks, Screwing all of the Yanks, And uses a strap-on on AROD's caboose.
  6. If the Rangers and Habs eventually meet up, who to root for? I couldn't hate either team more. I guess I'd have to hope for a bloody 7 game series where they beat each other up so bad that the winner will be ill-equipped to advance any further. That said, I'm pulling for the Pens in the east.
  7. You know, I've wondered if any one would say how do I KNOW these HS kids took the s***. I did see college kids inject and let's just say I know what drugs were bought, how much they bought, what it cost, etc. After a while I could also tell who was doing it, for the most part, of the guys that I didn't have "inside information" on. And the physique changes, as 26 points out, were there. So were the attitude changes. Zits the size of guinea pigs on their backs and shoulders. Bloatedness or ridiculous cuts, depending on what they were doing. Weight gain, strength gain, etc. It was all there and often undeniable. Look at guys like Bagwell, or Bonds, or Dykstra who over a few years got huge. I seriously doubt it was a result of their nutrition and off-season training schedule alone. I can't find any fault in 26 or anyone else for pointing to a picture of a player and noticing a massive change and assuming the player used PEDs, as I truly believe Canseco and MLB/Mitchell Report have only scratched the surface of the prevalance. Ya know, all of this talk started when I JOKINGLY said ARod musta gone off the juice. It was a joke, that's all. Had I seen this coming I'd have refrained...maybe. Anyway, sorry.
  8. IMO, most HS kids have no delusions of ever making the pro's, and most know they won't even play college ball. They do it for the here and now, the HS glory, and perhaps to look good at the beach during the summer! The pro's know that the difference between 15 and 30 hrs, or hitting .275 vs. .295, or 65 RBIs vs. 90 RBIs mean $$$$ and fame...that's where I'm coming from...the payoff for the pro's is much more immediate. From my experience most of the HS kids are thinking of just being better now, not making the pro's.
  9. Not to be critical but "Man Ram" as a user name? You got guts kid, although luckily this isn't the old BH forum.
  10. Role has been filled by Alex Karras, former Detroit Lion.... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/photopost/data/974/3alexemmanuel.jpg
  11. No, she's currently in Africa while filming some "feed the children" infomercial and watching the flies swarm the starving throngs, while she stuffs her fat fkn face with a big sloppy meatball grinder. So it's down to John Goodman, David Wells and Carney Wilson. (FYI, I hope his Dad is ok.)
  12. I hear ya crunch, but as you and I know, since we're long-time hockey fans, the game has changed. Refs (and the league) used to allow liberties to be taken vs. "agitators." While they understood there is a place for that type of player, they allowed the players to police it themselves and keep it in line. Years ago a stick infraction of the sort your talking about would carry a penalty, but nothing more, because the Refs and the league took into account who did what to whom. It would be like "Someone high sticked Dale Hunter and knocked him out for 5 games? Oh well, 2 minutes high-sticking is enough." Now? The players are forced to accept this type of despicable behavior. If Brodeur sticks him bad, he likely gets a 5 min major, game misconduct AND a 10 gamer after the league reviews. Even if a D-man like Colin White comes over and pummels him, he gets and instigator and puts his team down for 5 minutes. Plus Avery would likely turtle and come back next shift and do the same thing. IMO, a cross check to the teeth or a butt-end to the throat, with the intention of knocking him out for several games, are the prescribed solutions and the refs, the league, and Avery's teammates should understand that he brought it on himself...and let it go at that. But this is the new NHL, so that solution is unlikely.
  13. you make me vomit?
  14. Under the old rules, yes, the D should clear the crease. In case ya missed it, D-men can't take the liberties they once took...it's called interference now. In such a close game, especially down 2-0 in the series, a deenseman can't take the risk. Avery knows that. As for Brodeur's statements after the game, it was all very tongue-in-cheek, you'd have to have seen the interview. He goes on to say that what Avery was doing actually worked because two pucks that missed the net would have been in had they been on goal, because Marty couldn't see them. Avery is a tough kid, and he possesses some skill. There is a fine line between agititating and going beyond the "code" that most NHL players acknowledge exists. It seems to me he could remain extremely effective without stepping over the line. A buddy of mine played junior hockey in Canada and said that, to a man, any player who yapped HAD to back it up...your own teammates wouldn't have your back if you didn't back up your mouth. Used to be that way in the NHL. Under the new rules, however, guys like Avery and Tucker can get away with the cheap shots, etc. because any retaliation will be severely punished. I remember years ago guys like Ken Linseman would agitate and they'd get a cross-check to the teeth, with no penalty call. Now it'd be a 10 game suspension. This sort of running and hiding is what infuriates the leagues true tough guys and sometimes results in incidents like the Bertuzzi or McSorley incidents. So I guess we'll agree to disagree on Avery...you like him on your team...I'd be ashamed to have him on mine. We all have our own standards, I suppose. For the hell of it...Included in Sean Avery's actions over the years: - Accused of calling George Larocque a monkey...wouldn't fight him, though, and later denied it. - Made derogatory statements about French Canadien players then when challenged separately by Ian Laperriere and Gauthier he declined. -Reportedly made derogatory comments about Jason Blake's cancer battle, sparking a pre-game incident..denied it. - Declined an invitation to fight janssens of NJ...but then turned and challenged Zach Parise. Parise???? - He was dropped from LA's roster at the end of his last season there after refusing to take part in a practice drill.
  15. Interesting rationale. You're the first person I've heard describe his actions as creative and hysterical. All of the hockey analysts were appalled. Even the heads on MSG said it was bush. In fact Drury came over and tried to get him to stop. Ever play hockey? Even in youth leagues and in HS we had a code of sorts. In the NHL, the players generally stick to the code out of self-respect. Avery has non. There is a reason Avery is one of the most hated players in the NHL. Players who screen goalies get slashed. Watch other games, it happens constantly. It's always been that way. Big difference, though, in Brodeur flopping to draw a penalty (while he STILL has to concentrate on any shots) vs. Avery with his back to the play, waving his stick and glove in the guys face. If D-men were still allowed to hit guys in front of the net, Avery would have been cleared out. And further, refs used to allow players to take liberties with guys camped out in front, and if this was the "old" NHL, Avery would be spittin' chicklets. The instigator penalty is what allows guys to do this cheap stuff. enjoy him while you can...rumour has it he's gone after this year and his teammates won't miss him.
  16. Anyone see Sean Avery last night? Doing this sort of "face-gaurding" thing to Brodeur where he paid no attention to where the puck was but stood right in front of Brodeur, waving his arms and stick in Brodeur's face? I once thought he was a gritty, but honest player, but apparently not. He's cheap and surely picks his spots physically as well. As for the most recent act...I saw the replay and IMO it was one of the worst displays of sportsmanship I've ever seen. Below is a lonk to an article on it...apparently the trash talking often revolves around personal stuff like Brodeur's divorce...nice. Next Ranger fan that tells me what a character guy Avery is will definitely get a chuckle out of me. http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/8032786/Avery-embarrassed-himself,-team-with-bad-sportsmanship-
  17. do they know who the father is yet? Is it really one of the Cansecos?
  18. BoSox, not sure how anyone, even the biggest homer, could deny the B's got the short end overall on the penalty calls. And for anyone that was really watching, take a look at the Canadiens tieing goal Sunday night...Brian Smolinski clearly interferes with Mark Stuart as he tries to get back to the front of the net. Very heady play by Smolinski, he throws a shoulder into Stuart, clear interference, but not called. Canadiens are much more talented than the B's, I will say that. They also, IMO, have the better goalie. The B's hanging with them for the last two games, and outplaying them at times, is commendable in and of itself. FYI, I saw Kovalev take himself out of a play again feigning injury and it almost cost the Habs. Anyone remember him doing that one year, got "slashed" and left the puck at his own blue line as he pretended to be hurt, and the B's scored to win it? The replays showed his hand was not even hit. Awesome. The guy scares me whenever he has the puck but he is a fkn tool.
  19. Does anyone really think we even need Canseco's book before we can identify suspected PED use? Doesn't anyone see how these guys physiques change over short periods of time, how some go from 15-20 HRs up to 30-40HRs in the blionk of an eye, then fall apart physically? I've said this many times before...in the early 80's I worked in a gym. 'Roids were rampant and college and HS athletes were using all sorts of s*** and it was easy to detect just by looking at them. I recall a HS quarterback who bought $900 of juice one day, went from about 170 lbs to 200 ripped in 6 months, won all-league honors...also punched his girl in the face, got arrested several times but was somehow the toast of the town. Everyone in the gym knew he was using, by watching him change. This was a HS kid, with limited $$$ and not nearly as much to gain as a pro athlete. Don't underestimate the power of a fan's own eyes, their common sense and their ability to read ballooning stat lines. Combine what you see with the knowledge of how much is at stake for these guys in terms of money and ego and it makes it hard NOT to suspect someone.
  20. I suspect many players, not just ARod. I've stated that time and again, and personally I don't blame them, nor do I really care if they s*** their own livers out as a result. PED's?
  21. Stupidity? Why would that implication be considered stupid? It is simply a statement of suspicion, tinged with a good dose of sarcasm, which apparently was missed by at least one reader. Personally, I think anyone convinced that a player with those kind of numbers, particularly one who hits the ball 400+ feet to the opposite field with virtually a one-handed swing, HAS NOT ever used PEDs might be a touch more outrageous than those thinking that perhaps, just perhaps, he might have used PEDs.
  22. The officiating in the B's series has been absolutely horrendous. Shaefer almost gets his head taken off with a high stick...no call. Savard (who does embellish the hits from behind) is drilled face first into the boards...no call. The Bruins last night played with desperation and my heart was pounding at times during the game...haven't felt that in a long, long time. Couple thoughts: Is Milan Lucic a Neely type player or what? 19 yrs old and this kid brings it each and every shift, with savvy. Glen Murray is a step or two behind every time he's on the ice...he's not helping and I fear he'll hurt the team at some point. I hope I am wrong and he starts to put the puck in the net, but so far it's rare he even touches the puck.
