  1. How do you not see you're a troll with posts like that? All you're trying to do is incite a negative reaction and start an argument. I'd rather have a GM who adapts to the market than one who stays put in a strategy. How's Brian Cashman done spending $200 million a year lately?
  2. ...he's been healthy lately? That's like saying "what if Manny plays 115 games" or "waht of ortiz plays 115 games" There's always a risk of injury. But there's a difference between getting injured by a hit by pitch or getting injured by not taking care of yourself.
  3. Trot Nixon wishes he could have seasons like JD Drew. Trot Nixon, in his best years, put up OPS+'s of 129 (2001), 149 (in an injury shortened 2003), and 123 in 2004. His career OPS+ is 117. JD Drew, in his best years, put up OPS+'s of 162 (2001), 158 (2004), and 122 (2000). His career OPS+ is 133.
  4. If Drew is such an injury risk, why trade WMP or Manny away? Wouldn't we want a capable 4th OF? Why can't Ortiz play some games at first to let Manny DH and have WMP fill in somewhere? One more question - Does anyone else doubt Damon would get close to $80-90 million if he was a free agent this year? Not me. I think Damon, in last year's market, got what he was worth. Drew is getting what he's worth, especially in lieu of the Soriano and Lee deals.
  5. I'll just do W-L. Schilling : 17-10 Beckett : 16-9 Matsuzaka : 15-8 Papelbon : 8-13 Wakefield : 12-12
  6. If WMP can net Cordero, you know the Sox will throw the $$ at Drew.
  7. The way Contreras has pitched over the last two years, I would certainly take it if matsuzaka is an upgrade over that.
  8. JD Drew.
  9. Apparenlty Nixon hasn't received many, if any offers.
  10. I think the worst you get out of Matsuzaka is a #3 starter....which is something the Sox didn't have last year. Paying Juan Pierre $9 million a year is absolute insanity. But then again overpricing players is the state of the market nowadays. I do think Matsuzaka will be worth more to the Sox than Pierre will be to the Dodgers.
  11. If WMP/Hansen can net Cordero...you just might have to pull the trigger. Then you can throw $$ at Drew, which by all accounts the Sox are doing anyway.
  12. Upgrade at SS with Lugo...and yes Lugo is an upgrade over AGon. Upgrade the pitching staff and sign Dice. Upgrade the bullpen.
  13. This most likely takes the Angels out of the trade possibilities for Manny. It looks more and more like WMP will be the opening day starter in RF.
  14. Juan Pierre barely has a .300 OBP. That's terrible for a leadoff hitter. Paying him $9 mil/yr is a pretty bad deal. Paying $51 million is a bit ridiculous, but the reward of Matsuzaka could be much greater than that of Pierre.
  15. BINGO.
  16. Pena + = Pena and someone else.
  17. Mauer > Morneau. I'm just glad Jeter didn't win.
  18. Pena + for Cordero and Austin Kearns.
