  2. Well, first of all. I'd like to thank my hands for being so great. And second, anyone who gives Barry Zito a $126 million deal is not the smartest.
  3. I think a lot of the hang-up on the deal has to do with Bonds's "entourage" in the locker room all the time. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/487647p-410622c.html
  4. Now, if you made that with the individual toes, it'd really be gay.
  5. I really can't see the Yankees offering the type of scheduling flexibility that he wants. Right now it seems like 50/50 for him even to pitch next year. If Houston offers more money than the Yankees (on the Dan Patrick show today Gammons said the Astros are willing to overpay a bit), and keeps the same schedule for him, why would he leave Houston? I don't think the Red Sox are going to make a huge push for him. Yeah, it'd be a nice story, but the Sox already have a pretty good rotation. They need to continue to focus their attention on the bullpen and maybe beef up the bench a little bit.
  6. Olney, huh? Clemens to Houston.
  7. He still had the indecency to post it.
  8. Ladeewski's an *******.
  9. No one is being physically or emotionally harmed by their decision. If anything, it hurts them more because they lose out on ticket revenue. If teams wanted to take the risk of only allowing fans of their teams to buy tickets that's their decision. They're the ones who need to be aware of the possible economic risks. If anything, class always takes a backseat to the almighty dollar. If the Patriots are the better team on the field, it makes no difference who is in the stands.
  10. I have lauded Wang's 2006 season more than most on this board. I have my doubts whether or not he can keep it up, but he was tremendous last season. If he can keep this up without missing bats at the rate he does, more power to him. His peripheral numbers don't suggest he can keep up his sucess at last year's rate, but I do think he can be a above average pitcher for the Yankees for a long time. But 13 IP is a f***ing small sample size. In ALDS games too. When he wins games in the LCS and the WS, then I'll say he can be better than Curt Schilling or Josh Beckett.
  11. ^^I agree about the character point. It's why Jim Rice isn't in...he wasn't "good enough of a guy." And yes, Barry Bonds exhibits the type of character that should not be found in the HoF. But where do you draw the line on the steroid issue? It's gotta be either people are in or no one gets in. As for McGwire, he should be in because he was an offensive force for an entire decade. Andro, steroids, whatever aside, he was one of the 5, maybe top 3 offensive players of the 1990s. And it sucks that he's going to take the fall for the majority of people who weren't clean and weren't as good as he was. Say what you want about the treatment Palmeiro received, McGwire's candidacy for the Hall will be the first shot fired against steroid users.
  12. I just don't think there's a legal precedence to sue. No one's being harmed here. If anything, SD are hurting themselves.

    That includes endorsements though.
  14. Do the words small sample size mean anything to you? And if Wang was touching 98 on a slow YES gun, then why can't he get back there? Oh wait, he was probably only throwing 93-94.
  15. If Barry Bonds stopped playing in 1998, before he allegedly started juicing, he was a unanimous, lockdown 1st ballot Hall of Famer. Manny is also a 1st ballot. Ortiz is nowhere near the player Barry Bonds was.
  16. Who were the Giants going to hire to replace Coughlin? It's a veteran team who wanted continuity, and, in the players' meetings, said that Coughlin did not lose respect of the players. You can't just have him be a lame duck for next year, so that explains the extension. If they bomb next year, then he'll be fired.
  17. He did that in Texas. 8 years ago. I fail to see how he helps the 2007 Red Sox. Pass.
  18. Florida really impressed me last night. I think Meyer having a month to gamplan and work on things he knew could exploit against Ohio State's defense. Notice he didn't beat them vertically. he went horizontal and used his players' speed. That's something that never changes. I thought when Ginn left the game last night, the air went out of Ohio State. The game was over when they missed that 4th and 1. Not having Ginn made it difficult for Florida's defense to respect the vertical passing game of Ohio State. The D ends pinned their ears back and bullrushed Smith all night. But why didn't Ohio State commit themselves to the run? Their O-Line is huge. Run the ball between the tackles, and use it to open up some play action for Smith. Tressel called an awful game last night. I expected more from him, and his team should have been able to remain competitive even without Ginn. However, if Florida doesn't take their foot off the pedal in the second half they coulda scored 60. Chris Leak has gotten a bad rep his whole career IMO. Zook was not a very good coach, and he struggled adapting to Meyer's offense last year. But they played the toughest schedule in the country this year and deserved their national championship. To see Leak go out the way he did was a great thing for college football. He never complained, even when he got booed at the start of the year. He earned the win last night. To think he could not do it again would be foolish.
  19. I got a hunch Cincinnati will trade Dunn before he becomes a FA, that way they'll at least get something for him.
