  1. PS I didn't post the picture of Gomer Pyle, genius.
  2. This is an excellent point....I wonder if the brain trust has decided it's better to punt the division and "try to get healthy for the playoffs." Say what you want about the Yankees, but Jeter, Matsui, and Posada are all playing hurt. Hell, everyone's hurt this time of year, but only one team is playing their "A" team.
  3. Probably not, but you never know. Hire an assistant to help him with ML talent. Something.
  4. Who knows, indeed. Then asking ORS to stop a bullet is... What comment? All I said was how you are perceived, in regards to relations with women on this board. So you calling me an idiot, and ORS a racist, is.... That's all well and good, Gom, but don't try to take the moral high ground when you've said the things you have in this thread.
  5. Your trolling tactics may work with other people but they just amuse me. Which is it, Gom?
  6. f*** that. They reserve the right to be as obnoxious as they want. Like Steinbrenner said after game 7 in '04, "Keep the lights on and let them celebrate. They deserve it."
  7. I would ban Gom. Just because I got the feeling he's gonna be insufferable over the next week plus.
  8. Yeah, it's not like Matt Stairs was up 0-2. Oh wait, that was last night.
  9. Bump. Terry Francona on NESN - "We'd like to win the division, but the goal is to win the World Series." Terry, if you lose the division, you damn well better f***ing win the World Series, or your ass should be fired. I love the strategy. Guess Theo and Co. got tired of winning division titles and decided to coast into the playoffs this year. Great work.
  10. O's with the bases loaded, will surely strand them.
  11. Yarg. Mine's 325 KB. Oh well, forget about it.
  12. Manny Ramirez is worth his -40 in the field when he's hitting, because i think the wall in left takes away his defensive effectiveness. There comes a time when you question if Ellsbury, who would be a far superior defensive player, could be worth letting Manny go. What I'm trying to say here, is the run differentials between the two are not as great as you think.
  13. Shhhhhh The Sox won't even need Gagne tonight, Buchholz is getting th job done.
  14. No I know, I was wondering if yeszir upped the filesize limits.
  15. Ellsbury CF Pedroia 2B Ortiz DH Lowell 3B Drew RF Varitek C Hinske 1B Kielty LF Lugo SS Buchholz All things considered (Manny) that's the best lineup Tito can put out there. PS the magic number for a playoff spot is 3 thanks to Detroit's suckitude.
  16. Hey dicksmack, look at how much better the Yanks have played at home this year, what if that series holds playoff implications - say the division or the WC is on the line? The Yanks have a distinct advantage. I can't believe you're as dumb as you look here sometimes.
  17. You're totally right. Eric Gagne isn't a dirt dog and can't play here. Where's the criticism of Tek's pitch calling? Or because he wears the C he's untouchable? He'd be Trot Nixon, the leader of toughness and grit and he played with a dirty hat so he must be good. I've made this argument so many times it's not worth it anymore. Looking at JD Drew's season with Atlanta and LA made it clear how he could be worth $14 million/yr, especially in last year's market. When Gil Meche can get $11 mil and Gary Matthews can get $10, how much is JD Drew worth? PS in September Drew is sporting a tidy .882 OPS. But he doesn't kick over water coolers, so we hate him. He doesn't bitch like "I hit .220 after the All Star Break" Kevin Youkilis. Ok, if you were struggling in your job and 35,000 people came to boo you, how do you think it would affect your performance?
  18. I can't take anyone seriously who would rather have Tavarez start tonight over Buchholz.
  19. That's horseshit. The Red Sox are 43-34 on the road, good for the second best record in all of the MLB. Fenway's rep as being an offensive park has been waned over the last few years as the park factors are becoming more neutral. The Yankees, on the other hand, are 38-37 on the road, and have a run differential of +97 at home compared to away, while having only played one more home game. The Yanks are an ungodly 49-27 at home. The Sox have scored only scored 63 more runs at home, while playing two less home games. Their record is also very good, at 47-28. Seems the Sox are more consistent home/away, while the Yanks perform better offensively at home. Isn't Wang's ERA like 2 runs lower at home than on the road anyways?
