  1. Congrats, Yankee fans. This is how it should be, with both teams in the playoffs.
  2. Padres threatening for more in the 5th in SF. edit - They take a 3-1 lead on a Kouzmanoff RBI single. double edit - Padres putting it away, now up 5-1.
  3. NL WILD CARD San Diego Padres 86-71 Philadelphia Phillies 86-72 .5 GB Colorado Rockies 85-72 1 GB The most interesting race of the bunch, featuring a Padres team desperately trying to hang on to a playoff spot and two teams making a September push. The Phils have closed ground on the Mets, and look to do so against SD. If SD loses, and the Rockies win tonight, we could have a three way tie for the wild card at 86-72. The Rox play in Arizona this weekend and the Phillies close with one against ATL, and three against the Nats.
  4. NL WEST Arizona Diamondbacks 88-70 San Diego Padres 86-71 1.5 GB The Diamondbacks are a complete enigma. Consistently outperforming their pythag all year, they have been in the lead in this division for the better part of the second half. They are currently +11 on their pythag, I believe the highest in the majors. They lost tonight, 5-1 to the Pirates. San Diego holds the WC lead and is in SF tonight, with Peavy on the mound. Looks very good for them to pick up a game on the Dbacks and hold off the Phillies and Rockies. They close the season in Milwaukee, a huge series.
  5. NL CENTRAL Chicago Cubs 83-75 Milwaukee Brewers 81-76 1.5 GB Milwaukee, throughout the second half of the season, fell on their face and allowed the Cubs to overtake them. Both teams are fairly mediocre, but that's what was said about the Cards last year. Only one playoff spot from this division this year. Chicago lost to Florida earlier tonight, and Milwaukee is down 7-2 in the 9th. It appears the lead will be 2 with 4 to play. Cubs have Steve Trachsel going against the Marlins tomorrow, and Yovani Gallardo will pitch against SD tomorrow, a series with serious playoff implications.
  6. As of right now, 10:55 PM on the 26th...here are the NL playoff races. NL EAST New York Mets 87-71 Philadelphia Phillies 86-72 1 GB The Mets are in a complete and total free-fall right now. Up 5-2 heading into the 5th against the Nats tonight, they allow 4 runs in the 5th and end up losing the game 9-6. 5-7 over their last 12, they have allowed the Phillies to surge back into the race. The Phillies beat the Braves 5-2 tonight thanks to a solid outing from Kyle Lohse, and old friend JC Romero got Chipper Jones swinging to end a threat in the 8th. The Phils are 9-3 over their last 12, but face John Smoltz tomorrow.
  7. Yanks lead 2-1
  8. I apologize.
  9. Here come the Yanks.
  10. I just noticed - Are the Mariners playing a road game at Safeco? Is this one of the make-ups from the blizzard in April?
  11. No, I just think he's a supremely talented hitter who's probably playing through a shoulder injury. I'll bet anyone $20 he has shoulder surgery in the offseason. edit - But it's OK to hate him, he doesn't bitch like Youks does.
  12. Heeeeeere come the Tiggers!
  13. You don't know Jacko well enough.
  14. Timlin looked real good there.
  15. On NESN they said he was 18 for his last 49 I believe.
  16. Have you looked at Wang's home/away splits?
  17. Think the Yanks hold him for Game 3 of the ALDS?
  18. lol nice. timlin for the 7th, Hansack for the 8th and 9th (I'm only slightly kidding)
  19. Wang has a huge home/away split, as well as grass/turf split. Away/turf is the worst for him. lol.
  20. Man, this lineup is so much better with Manny in it.
  21. Seattle up 2-0 on Carmona and Cleveland.
