  1. I don't have the time nor the patience to go through that long post but I never said anything about beating Beckett like a rented mule (he pitched 200 innings this season, and your 6 man plan would drop him is total by 25....3 or 4 starts worth). If you can't see the difference between Beckett throwing comparable innings next season that he did this season at 27, as opposed to Buchholz throwing 30+ more innings than he's ever thrown at age 23, then that's your prerogative and not mine. All I said was if he was going to hit his pitching limit, why not maintain roster flexibility as often as possible and slide him into the rotation after a month or two? If he's making four inning starts in April the bullpen sees a lot of action. Ask the Yankees how that one worked out this season.
  2. Was gonna say the same thing.
  3. What? You think the front offices of major league baseball teams aren't inquiring about this guy just because it's not in the press? And you just linked to an Olney piece! Without Santana or Cabrera signing yet!
  4. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/amh05/fen_1.jpg No lines.
  5. UConn's going to the Car Care Bowl...most likely playing either wake Forest or FSU.
  6. SO, by saying he'll start the season at AAA, you're actually agreeing with what I'm saying. It's not that tough. Start him in AAA, monitor his innings, work him into the rotation mid-season. This way, his innings limit will not come into play during the stretch run and hopefully the playoffs. Or, it's because he was complaining of shoulder fatigue. ^^Rotoworld
  7. From my understanding, they used new sod (actual grass). Really, with the conditions last night, there's absolutely nothing they could have done. It was going to suck anyways.
  8. Sox, Yanks in talks with Twins for Santana
  9. So ride him, and if he wears down and gets tired after a 20% increase in innings, AFTER he got shut down this season, and potentially lose him for the playoffs? Brilliant.
  10. So what you want, is a six man rotation, where we don't give Josh Beckett as many starts as possible next season. Carry on...
  11. No.
  12. I am interested in hearing all of the facts for this story, especially considering Taylor's past.
  13. So what you're saying is, in a f***ing monsoon, the field would have been better if they stuck with the chewed-up, old sod. Gotcha.
  14. For every Pedro, Maddux, and Hamels, there are stories of Mark Prior, Rick Ankiel, and Kerry Wood. How many innings do you expect Buchholz to pitch next season? It's not coddling a pitcher. It's monitoring his innings so that the risk of an arm injury is decreased, especially since we have depth at the starting pitcher position as it is.
  15. Maybe....but if the Sox trade him for say, Garza or Neshek, that makes Cabrera an irrelevant piece in the NYY package.
  16. What should they have done then? They had high school games there on Friday and USF/Pitt there on Saturday. Should they have stayed with the torn up field?

  18. Scroll down to the bottom of the page in the link in my prior post. It definitely is.
  19. That's interesting then. Buchholz gets shut down with a tired arm after 148, but we can pencil him in for what, 180 innings? Ridiculous. He's 23. How many innings do you expect out of him next season?
  20. • Brady Anderson • Harold Baines • Rod Beck • Bert Blyleven • Dave Concepcion • Andre Dawson • Shawon Dunston • Chuck Finley • Travis Fryman • Rich Gossage • Tommy John • David Justice • Chuck Knoblauch • Don Mattingly • Mark McGwire • Jack Morris • Dale Murphy • Robb Nen • Dave Parker • Tim Raines • Jim Rice • Jose Rijo • Lee Smith • Todd Stottlemyre • Alan Trammell Something tells me this is Big Jim Ed's best shot and maybe his last shot.
