  1. What "score" needed to be settled? Do you have issue with event #1? Not surprising. Really. So potentially injuring someone who will be in the openng day lineup is the same thing as injuring a AA catcher? Do I need to explain how stupid this sounds?
  2. So who's starting up the NCAA pool?
  3. Let's follow the course of events. 1. Elliot Johnson, a career minor leaguer fighting for his life, makes a split second decision and knocks over a Yankee catching prospect and breaks his wrist. 2. Girardi get pissy about it, but many of the Yankee contingent felt it was a fluke event and nothing else would come of it. 3. The Yankee starter hits Longoria with a pitch and gets thrown out, which should have marked the end of the whole saga. 4. Shelly "I am a Dick" Duncan gets a base hit down the left field line and tries to stretch a single into a double. He is thorwn out by at least 5 feet and makes the conscious decision to go in spikes high against the Rays' starting third baseman. We really think that what Shelly Duncan did was a good thing? Really?

  6. No badmouthing of Duncan from the Yankee contingent? I'm shocked.
  7. Hmm let's review. Beckett walks off the mound with spasms in his back, has an MRI which reveals no structural damage (disks), is said to be feeling better, but since the Sox don't want him taking a 17 hour plane ride he's havng major back issues. Pettite leaves the mound with soreness in his forearem (never good for any pitcher) and it's no big deal. Just want to be clear. Thanks.
  8. The starter for the Yankees drilled Longoria for the Rays. The next inning, Duncan goes into second base trying to stretch a single into a double, is dead to rights, and goes in with high spikes to Iwamura. Gomes comes in from right and starts the brawl. In short: 1. Shelley Duncan is a dick. 2. THIS IS JOE GIRARDI'S TEAM AND THE YANKEES WON'T GET PUSHED AROUND 3. Shelley Duncan is a dick.
  9. FYI, I heard on WFAN this morning that the reason Crystal wore a Mets hat for City Slickers was because the Mets helped him out with Comic Relief. Apparently the question was presented to Crystal and he said that was the reason for it and made the point that he wears Yankee stuff in all of his other movies. 26 to 6 is still a shining example of my signature.
  10. Wow after 6 innings of spring training Phil Hughes has won the CY Young and brought the Yanks their 27th world title. Holy crap
  11. I don't "condone" it but I also don't think it's as big of a deal as you are making it out to be. No but the competition goes both ways. You seem perfectly fine with handing Ellsbury the job based off of 130 at bats of work. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/gl.cgi?share=2&n1=crispco01&year=2007&t=b#575:605:sum Coco Crisp in 117 ABs had an OPS of .935 holy crap!!!!

  13. Holy God, it was sarcasm. We know you're a bandwagon fan and will defend it to the death but you don't have to stick up for Billy Crystal too.
  14. Fielding percentage is a pretty bad stat to use, though.
  15. Can you blame the guy? He's entering the prime of his career, coming off one of the best defensive seasons ever, and is a few years removed from a .300 season. He's supposed to be entering his glory days, not riding the pine. Especially for a rookie who had a good 130 at bats. I, for one, don't blame Coco. I also think people who think "clubhouse cancers" exist are retarded.
  16. Good game between IUPUI and Oral Roberts. It's a one-bid league, though. Also, Middle Tennessee beat South Alabama, which will probably cost another bubble team a spot.
  17. Assuming there are no upsets, I have 56 teams set into the bracket for the field of 65. That leaves nine spots for any one of the following bubble teams: My picks are bolded. Syracuse Villanova Ohio State Baylor Texas A&M Oregon Arizona State Ole Miss Arkansas Massachusetts Dayton St. Joe's UNLV UAB VCU Western Kentucky
  18. I have 41 teams in the tournament as of now. These are tournaments still to be decided (that will only get one team: America East Big Sky Big West Horizon (assuming Butler wins) Mid-American (assuming Kent State wins) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Mountain West (assuming BYU wins) Northeast Patriot Southern (assuming Davidson wins) Southland Southwestern Athletic Conference Summit Sun Belt (assuming South Alabama wins) Western Athletic
  19. You can have the Super Bowl, the BCS and even (gasp) the World Series. It's time for March Madness, baby. The best sporting event of the entire year. With selection Sunday 6 days away, I figured it would be appropriate to begin "Bubble" discussion. TheKilo's Projected Field as of 3/10: - Bubble teams in Parentheses, Auto bids in Italics ACC: Duke, Clemson, UNC, Miami (FL) Big East: UConn, Georgetown, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt, WVU, Marquette (Syracuse, Villanova) Big Ten: Indiana, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Purdue (Ohio State) Big 12: Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State (Baylor, Texas A&M) Pac-10: UCLA, Stanford, USC, Washington State (Oregon, Arizona State) SEC: Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky (Ole Miss, Arkansas) A10: Xavier (Massachusetts, Dayton, St. Joe's Other Conferences: Drake - MVC Cornell - Ivy Belmont - Atlantic Sun Winthrop - Big South George Mason - CAA Siena - MAAC Austin Peay - OVC Memphis BYU Gonzaga Butler St. Mary's Davidson - Southern Conference San Diego - WCC Bubble teams from Mid-Majors: Kent State UNLV South Alabama UAB VCU Western Kentucky UNLV
