This comment stuck with me from last night's game thread. I agree with this line of thinking. I will acknowledge that he was one of the better offensive catchers in the game last year, but the games in Japan made him look awfully bad. Then again, he just turned in two solid games in a row. I don't think Varitek is an "offensive liability." I do think his defense is massively overrated, and replacing him is going to happen sooner than later. What's the future for Jason Varitek? What can we expect out of him this year and moving forward?

Tek looks crispy, but he's still one of the better offensive catchers in baseball. I think he's vastly overrated, but I think the worst thing the Sox could do right now is give Cash the starting job. Kottaras and Tek should be platooning.

South: Region that is most up in the air, IMO. I can easily see any of the top 5 seeds making it. Favorite: Texas. Memphis is too inconsistent with their shooting for me to make the FF. I love DJ Augustin and think he will have a tremendous tournament. Dark Horse: Marquette. I think this bracket is an excellent draw for them. A kentucky team that shouldn't be in the tournament, and then a Stanford team who won't be able to run with them. If Dominic James has good shooting nights they can play with anyone in this region. Overrated Team: Michigan State. A 5 seed is too high for a team this inconsistent. What were their good wins again? Expect a second round loss to the winner of Pitt/ORU. Winner: The winner of the Marquette/Texas game. Too close to call ATM.
