  1. Damon and...? Yes you'll have money to spend, but I think the Yankees hold on to everyone you mentioned except Giambi when they make their run at Tex.
  2. Sox need bullpen help (duh)
  3. No. Not just mine.
  4. Papelbon pitched better than Rivera.
  5. Nah man, f*** Brett Favre. http://www.blogbostonsports.com/ I wrote that.
  6. His performance in the 2007 WS is an example of why he is one of the elite closers in the game. He is having an excellent season, although not as good as his 2006 or 2007 seasons. He is a closer. He wants to close. The 2007 WS showed that he is one of the best in the game, which the All-Star Game is all about. We're getting on Papelbon for wanting to close a game. Rivera didn't take issue with the comments - why should anyone else? Especially with the way the game played out anyway?
  7. I think you misread his comments. He wanted to close and used his past performances, namely his performance in the 2007 WS, to justify his case. Flawed logic would be to say he should be closer and NOT use legitimate evidence to back his claim. And I STILL have yet to hear a Yankee fan acknowledge the tremendous amount of class Francona showed last night.
  8. Only Yankee fans are dumb enough to boo themselves.
  9. But he's not the coach. Francona is. Did Francona not do right by Mo, and by all of the Yankee players last night? So basically, the problem you have with Papelbon's original comments is that he deserves to close because the Sox won last year - he DID have three saves in the WS and arguably had a better statistical season than Rivera did last year. I suppose it's a moot point because Rivera's been better this year - however these things were only used to justify why he should at least be in the discussion to close, no? Here's the real crux of the Yankee fan argument. They felt Mo was disrepected. Which is fine, until you read what Papelbon thinks of Rivera. Also, did Rivera take offense to Papelbon's comments? If not - why should anyone else?
  10. Like ORS said in the other thread...what is the big deal about Papelbon saying he wants to close the all star game? HE'S A CLOSER. He also acknowledged that Rivera will be the one to do it because of his place in the game, that it's at YS, etc. Honestly - what was the big deal about him saying he wanted to close the game? As for Mrs. Papelbon - pick a side. You don't condone the actions yet you don't feel they were threatened because there is no physical proof? You acknowledge the fact insults were thrown at her - it shouldn't even have gotten to that point. To insult a pregnant woman is about as low as it gets. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2008/07/15/live-blogging-the-all-star-game/ You stay classy, New York.
  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/allstar08/news/story?id=3491135 Harass Papelbon all you want but defending in any way shape or form insults thrown at his wife is stupid.
  12. No love for Francona managing the game perfectly for the Yankee players, especially what he did with Mo?
  13. From the OP: Yeah, huge problems. Not big on reading comprehension, huh?
  14. The stupidity of this statement is mind-boggling. Dirt Dog = True Yankee Both are equally stupid.
  15. Papelbon should be quiet, but this story isn't as big as Gom would like it to be.
  16. This is incredible. Incredible.
  17. That's OK...he's good but not good enough t lock up for 7, 8 years, $120+ million.
  18. HOLY s*** OFF THE BACK WALL OF YS?
  19. His agent is Boras - no way he doesn't test the market. He's gonna get a HUGE deal.
  20. You know who's been the guy in the bullpen who's gotten the job done all year? Aardsma. I'd like to see if they give him some more hi-lev innings coming out of the gate in the 2nd half.
