  2. So wait, do you think the Sox will extend Ortiz after 2011 or not?
  3. And yet you were the one who wanted to extend Ortiz after 2011 - but you only say he "should" have peak years left?
  4. Not really true, although I have my concerns about Ortiz's ability to rebound from injury, one could argue 2007 was one of Ortiz's best seasons. Easily top 3.
  5. The flip side of that coin is how good were the other receivers when they didn't have Warner throwing to them?
  6. Simple question, very interesting debate. In light of Warner carrying the Cardinals to the Super Bowl this season, can he punch his ticket for Canton? Pros: 2x MVP SB MVP Super Bowl with 2 teams Top 5 all time in passer rating 3x Pro Bowler 2x All-Pro Throws for 300 yds in a higher percentage of games than anyone else #1 is pass yds/game all time #2 in all-time completion % Cons: Only 5 or 6 "good" seasons "System" QB (?) Bad stretches were really bad (end of STL career, time in NY) 38th in total passing yards 40th in total passing TDs He seems to be the NFL's version of Pedro Martinez or Sandy Koufax - his peak period was very, very good but you can easily claim it wasn't long enough to warrant induction. His rate stats are excellent but his counting stats are very lacking. I think he's in - the good years were simply too good to ignore - and this resurgence with Arizona this season has proved he's still a very good QB. If he wins in two weeks, it's a no brainer, but I lean 60/40 putting him in as we speak today.
  7. Larry Fitzgerald is the best WR in the NFL. And you know what the funny thing is? Before the playoffs started, I would have said Boldin was.
  8. What's the deal with the Capitals??
  9. lowlned
  10. Damn honkeys
  11. Old news, but BSN07's favorite player is now off the market: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090112&content_id=3741170&vkey=hotstove2008&fext=.jsp
  12. What if we did both? Besides, I feel that those who post here regularly should have a say in who gets chosen to be the next mod.
  13. Henderson and Rice lulz
  14. When Jack Cust does pushups, he doesn't lift himself up. He pushes the earth down.
  15. Outs are outs, no matter what form they come in. These guys will knock in more than they strand.
  16. Yes because the deals are peanuts to the Red Sox and all have potentially high rewards....think of them as lottery tickets. If one gets paid off it makes the investment in all three (four if you count Saito).
  17. Or - take one year deals from Penny and Smoltz and offer yourself the flexibility of going after a guy like Josh Beckett, Brandon Webb, Erik Bedard, Rich Harden, Tim Hudson, John Lackey, or Cliff Lee for 2010 - and if the market goes the way it is then their deals could be at a lower than expected value.
  18. Fantastic deal from this FO - you take Youk at 4/40 before Teixeira at 8/180 every day of the week and twice on Sunday. If they lock up Bay and Papelon in this offseason to longer-term deals then they've hit a home run.
  19. Can the Yankees even sign any more type As? (I believe Perez is type A, isn't he?)
  20. Yes indeed.
  21. The Orioles won't sign Varitek because Matt Wieters is the future of their franchise.
