  1. What a complete joke of a thread.
  2. Their plan B has backed me off, for now. If one of Smoltz, Saito, Penny, and Baldelli pans out, these deals will be all worth it - low risk, potentially very high upside signings. I'll back off for now.
  3. Pat Burrell just signed a deal with the Rays for what, 2/16? Adam Dunn and Bobby Abreu haven't even signed yet. I offer Bay a JD Drew deal. 5/70. I really think that's approaching the mac he'll get in this market - he will not come close to a $18 million AAV deal.
  4. I'll throw my hat in, why not?
  5. Alabama will cut this lead to 8 by halftime.
  6. Sunday's Game: Baltimore (-3.5) @ Miami Miami is the story of the year, no question. One win last season, to a division crown, and they have the MVP runner-up quarterbacking their team. The Wildcat, along with other examples of innovative playcalling, has allowed a team with less talent than many expected to be one of the most fundamentally sound football teams in the league. They committed a league low 13 turnovers this season and need to have more of the same if they want to win on Sunday. Aside from Matt Ryan, the other rookie QB in this playoffs who has a great chance to make a name for himself is Joe Flacco. I get such a 2005 Steelers vibe off of this team it isn't even funny. Young, untested QB who relies on a playmaking defense to carry the team along with a solid running game. I think the Ravens will win this game fairly easily, as their defense will force the Dolphins into some turnovers and they will pound the ball all game long. Ravens will pull away in the 4th quarter. Pick - Ravens 24, Dolphins 13
  7. Tomorrow's Game: Indianapolis @ San Diego (PK) Anyone but the Chargers. Anyone but the Chargers. This must be exactly what the Colts must be thinking. Even though the Colts have won 9 straight, you'd be hard pressed to find a team with more momentum than the Chargers, winners of four straight and who stole the division from under the Broncos' nose with the beatdown they gave them last week. The Chargers upset the Colts in last year's playoffs but are missing one key ingredient. Shawne Merriman. The Colts will rely on the newly crowned MVP to lead them past the Chargers. I expect this to be a very close game, but with a lot of points scored. In the end, the Chargers defense will be the one who blinks and the Colts will win. Pick - Colts 38, Chargers 31
  8. lol @ hierarchy of fail
  9. Sunday's game: Philadelphia (-3) @ Minnesota The Eagles needed a lot of things to go right in Week 17 to make the playoffs. They needed the Raiders to beat the Bucs, the Texans to beat the Bears, and they needed to beat their arch rival, the Cowboys. Inexplicably, they got all the help they needed and obliterated Dallas 44-6. Now they head towards the Great White North to face the Vikings. Jim Johnson against Tavares Jackson is completely unfair, not even close in terms of a matchup. I fully expect Johnson to blitz, blitz, and continue to blitz until Jackson proves he can beat him. The Vikings to have the most dynamic back in the game, Adrian Peterson, but I don't think that will be enough to overcome the Eagles. I think the game stays close until late because Andy Reid will not give Westbrook the touches he should in the dome, but the Eagles still win by a touchdown and go to the Meadowlands next week. Pick - Eagles 28, Vikings 20
  10. Tomorrow's Game: Atlanta (-1) @ Arizona The Arizona Cardinals won the NFC West thanks in large part to their 6-0 record in their division. Simple math tells us that the Cardinals went 3-7 against teams outside the NFC West, which should immediately raise a few red flags if you were leaning towards Arizona. However, the weather will be very favorable for the Cardinals' passing attack. The University of Phoenix Stadium will be a cozy 72 degrees with no wind as they will close the roof. Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald should have excellent games provided the Cardinals O-Line gives Kurt Warner protection from a solid pass rush of the Falcons led by Keith Brooking and John Abraham. The Falcons whirlwind season has been directly tied to the success of Matt Ryan. Their running game is fantastic but it is the maturity and poise of Matty Ice that helped the Falcons with a turnaround that city desperately needed after the Michael Vick fiasco. Lately, Ryan has looked like a rookie who is hitting a wall, as many of his throws look underthrown. Will his lack of playoff experience cost him, going up against a guy who is a former Super Bowl MVP? The key to the game will be that pass rush. If they can force Warner into turnovers and give Ryan a short field, they will win. If not, they run the risk of falling behind early due to the explosive offense of the Cardinals. This seems to be a game where everyone is picking the Falcons, probably due to how weak the Cards have looked the last month or so. Don't be fooled....even if the Cards struggle, I still expect them to put up at least 28 tomorrow. Anquan Boldin is the best receiver in football. Warner will find him and Fitzgerald with frequency, and the Cards win by double digits. Pick - Cardinals 35, Falcons 24
  11. Worst. Nickname. Ever.
  12. Oh no I agree with you 100% - I'm just relaying how completely disingenuous the people running the Yankees are when they can spend $450 million on FAs but then turn around in the same breath and ask to be covered for the 30% they were over budget for their new stadium. NYC taxpayers will continue to suffer and sheep like Gom will continue to say "It's a BUSINESS - you'd do the same thing if you could." Doesn't make it any less ethical or irresponsible.
  13. I wonder if the new Fenway Park would be 30% over budget.
  14. Yeah but Allen was one of the top 5 at his position last season. I'm thinking best case scenario, Cassel gets you a 1 and a 3.
  15. lol I wasn't trying to make anyone mad when I asked you to stop with your trade proposals
  16. lol @ u thinking you'll get Calvin Johnson
  17. Well, the Yankees are over budget by 30% for their new stadium and are asking their city for a bailout. Not exactly the most fiscally responsible crowd over there.
  18. Jacko, I can't stand Dojji's posts at times, but you really twisted his words around. With regards to Kottaras being a poor man's Napoli, he said:
  19. Please stop coming up with trade suggestions. Thanks.
  20. I'm not saying anything about ledges. The Red Sox made Mark Teixeira their #1 priority this offseason. They did not land him, and that is a failure for the FO. They did not accomplish what they set out to do, so they failed. That's all.
  21. I don't think so - the hit he took would have given a concussion to any player in this league, his head went right on the shoulder of the Carolina player. He'll be back for the stretch run.
