  1. Samari Rolle was on ESPN basically saying the same thing i posted about the refs...just be consistant: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3140983&categoryId=2459789&n8pe6c=1
  2. What he meant (and he finished his interview saying this) is that he prefers to do the talking with his play....and to his credit i haven't seen him say anything to anyone this year. The pats don't trash talk before the game, because they don't want to give another team bulletin board material. During the game the offense doesn't trash talk too much....the defense though is another story with Rodney leading the way.
  3. The problem last night was inconsistency with the refs. Much like the pats in 03-04 the ravens were mugging the receivers and TE's coming off the line...and they wouldn't let up after 5 yards. The refs let it go all night, and then started calling it on the final drive. The penalties that were called were correct, but they hadn't been called that way all night so it's hard to blame the ravens for doing what they did. In addition there were several on the final drive that weren't called; for example Gaffney on the TD catch...before he made the catch he was just about tackled. In my perfect world the refs would be consistent in their calls for both teams..and for PI somewhere between the ticky tac-you can't touch the receiver call and the all out mugging we saw last night. If the refs would have set the tone early and called it like they did on the final drive the ravens would have adjusted to what they could 'get away with'. The bottom line is the refs made the correct calls at the end of the game, but since they hadn't been doing it all along it really stood out. I can't blame the ravens for being upset because they played the same way all night and the refs changed at the end of the game (correct or not)
  4. Who knows, maybe the twins become reluctant to acquire Ellsbury now knowing he is with Boras.
  5. Just saw this:
  6. Just heard on ESPN that Gibbs didn't even know about the tribute to taylor at the beggining of the game (10 men on field) it was the DC that did it........Joe not exactly running a tight ship.
  7. I wouldn't say that...but I wouldn't be surprised if Polian hasn't had an affect. Before each pats game with the colts I know he 'briefs the officials crew' as to what the 'rules committee' wants to focus on. Since he's the head of the rules committee that's his right, and while i am sure the refs haven't done anything intentionally they would still have that in the back of their minds. Since he's done that with that pats games, i am sure he does it at every home game, if not every game. Let us not forget the playoff game with Pitt when the Polumalu int was reversed as incomplete! This year the projected numbers for penalties are (for 16 games) Colts opponents: 91-808 and the Colts: 57-376........that's a pretty big difference. Polian after the Pats game on HIS show..."I thought the calls in the game were pretty much fair except for a couple that were called on us......ya ok Bill:rolleyes: I didn't see the game, but here's some of what the Jags are saying after yesterday:
  8. Cleveland game: This is a great example for OPI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oye0IrLdx2Q another example of a blown call by the refs...cleveland got jobbed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmY2l-UQj9M
  9. Great quote:
  10. Anyone see the colts/jags game? I couldn't see it and heard there were a lot of problems with the refs. Then saw this statistic: Last 10 games: Colt Penalties 36 for 235 yards Colt Opponents 57 for 505 yards All teams are different and some are much more diciplined then others when it comes to penalties...but this is a pretty big difference.
  11. I think Coughlin is gone after this season unless they make a monster run in the playoffs. It was painful watching the skins game today....how does Gibbs not know that calling a 2nd timeout in a row is a penalty? He took it from a really tough FG to a very easy one with one stupid rookie mistake. Feely was just terrible...apparently Tatupu was wearing camo because he got the ball thrown right to him 3 times...to his credit he caught them all but they weren't that tough.
  12. Nice to see Timlin back!
  13. Ironic that the same rookie led officiating crew that bungled the pats/colts game got to do the same in the boys/pack game.......the 2 biggest games of the year!
  14. I agree. I actually think Favre getting hurt helped the pack. It seemed like Favre fell back to his old self trying to win the game with him arm instead of sticking with what has been working for them (spread formation and RAC) Rodgers came in and they got back to what had been working for them. That PI call in the 4th was a terrible call, and it's sad that the refs would err on the side of the penalty in that kind of game changing situation. The pack would have to be terrible down the stretch to lose that 1st round bye, so they should be fine and I think Favre will be back next week. (the extra few days of rest should help too) They should be healthy come playoff time and the better weather in Dallas (if it comes to that game) may actually work out better for them for their style of play. You can see why Favre has the 'iron man' record considering he didn't even know he separated his left shoulder last night until they got into the lockeroom. When asked if he could play with that next week, he says "oh ya, that's an injury you just shoot up and go play" !
  15. Good game. Dallas can't be to thrilled with that win considering the key injuries to the pack, big penalties going their way (142 at last count), and the pack was still in position to win. Dallas still came away with the win, but GB won't be afraid to come back in necessary in January.
  16. I agree, if he didn't he would always be thinking about it
  17. WEEI is reporting that Tom Osbourne has named himself interem head coach for Nebraska. I figured he would do this until they get a new coach so that he can recuit....the top 2 candidates (no surprise) are: Bo Pelini: DC for LSU and former DC/Interim HC for Nebraska Turner Gill: Former Nebraska player and coch..he left during Callahan's first year because he didn't like the new direction of the team. Current Buffalo HC EDIT: Found ESPN link to story http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3133259
  18. Very cool, thanks for sharing I hadn't seen it!
  19. Here's a clip from the punt last night that didn't bounce....wow [youtube=fins punt]x7DTNEa2E7w
  20. between the field Saturday night and last night...i would choose the old field.....wouldn't you? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=271126023
  21. Ricky Williams season is over already: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3130119
  22. Yes, stick with that field...all they did was make it worse! Back before the pats installed field-turf there where discussions everywhere on what they should do. The pats said the best they could do was to re-sod during their bye week to give the sox time to take (the bye week would give them 10-11 days after it was installed) They said they could not do it any shorter (and even the bye week was not really enough time) because the sox wouldn't take and it would be worse than it was before. Pittsburgh installed the turf Sunday night finishing at 9:30pm, giving the sod less than 24hrs before the game and during a monsoon. On top of that they didn't even 'have time' to take up the old sod, so they just put down new stuff. Looks like now the NFL has stepped in (behind the scenes) and Pittsburgh will be installing field turf after the season!
  23. Pittsburgh really outdid itself with that field last night. Just when you thought Heinz field couldn't get any-worse they decide to put down new sod on top of the old sod less than 24hrs before the game during a monsoon
  24. The barnburner in the swamp last night was rough on me with Ward and parker in my starting lineup
