  1. A hamstring strain.
  2. He's a little too good handling the fungo.
  3. I'll be crushed the day they close it. Baseball, the Sox, and Fenway were a huge part of my childhood and still play an important part in my life. Whenever I go to Fenway, I still to this day get goosebumps when I approach the park - EVERY F&CKING TIME! I don't care if I have to twist myself into a pretzel and watch the game backwards, I'd rather see the Sox play there than see any other game at any other park.
  4. '97 FAIL Ultra
  5. I think they do now, you bring this point up at every and any possible opportunity. Way to blame the drooling old man in the hockey helmet.
  6. Interesting...who discredits this because they rank Varitek an "A" list catcher at 33rd all time offensively? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/129520-unblurring-historythe-best-catchers-in-the-history-of-mlb-offensively
  7. Closer than you think offensively. The SIM rating here is very relevant as they both played the same position so they start out on an even playing field. Fisk: 887 Bench: 887 http://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/scomp.cgi?I=fiskca01:Carlton+Fisk&st=career http://www.baseball-reference.com/about/similarity.shtml
  8. Bench and Fisk are really close, although Fisk had to have at least 1,000 more ABs. I think many of the guys who saw him play would say Munson would possibly have had a shot at that distinction had his career not been cut short. I'd like to get Rician and Crunch's take on that. I know I hated the guy while he was playing, he was a wicked hard-nosed, snotty player. But at the same time I respected the guy's ability. He put up impressive numbers, was wicked clutch, and was just a little shy of Fisk and Bench in the power department.
  9. And his wife looks like Lori Singer, and his father-in-law looks like John Lithgow. Spooky.
  10. That's not necessary... but it's not like that's going to stop you or anything.
  11. I think they may have left the decimal point out.
  12. Maybe we'll see him back on eBay hawking a gas grill or something.
  13. PC, what's the over/under for the amount of time it takes Manny to feel "unappreciated" by the LA front office?
  14. His screen name should be immediately changed to Peter Gommons.
  15. Is this all you have to hold on to going into this season? Obsession with our #5? I wish one of the characters on Scrubs was a baseball fan. Really.
  16. It was much better when the drug of choice was cocaine. I think it's time for MLB to give Keith Hernandez and Dave Parker front office jobs.
  17. Hmmm...I wonder if his stint at NESN hasn't contributed to the change in attitude? Anyway, I say deserved, and congratulations.
  18. WTF, she's of age, right? I don't want to be ogling some 15 year old girl. (not publicly, anyway)
