  1. A bases loaded fielder's choice, 9-2!
  2. Plus physical maturity. He is stronger, so his velocity doesn't fall off much. He's older, so he's now in the 110+ pitch range instead of the 90-100 you look for in the younger arms. Someone did a longevity study on power pitchers a few years back and there was a correlation to innings pitched before age 25 and career length. Letting guys under 25 go too long generally shortens their career, but after 25 the same amount of work has much less of a negative effect. It's probably due to multiple factors such as increased strength, joints which have finished developing and can handle the stress better, honed mechanics, and less overthrowing.
  3. Lester and Paps were both filthy last night.
  4. 1) Underpants 2) ? 3) Profit
  5. They're stuck with it one way or the other, so they might as well grab a bottle of ketchup and move him for whatever they can get. What's the last year on his contract worth?
  6. I want a wav of the Yaz song.
  7. They're not picking up another infielder unless they get rid of one in the process. I don't see anything happening other than Lowell resting up and Lowrie taking a little longer than expected. Nobody will be interested in Lugo, or Lowell with his hip and salary. Green is playing well, Youkilis and Pedroia are going nowhere, Kotsay spells for Youk at 1st.
  8. For the FO it isn't.
  9. Guaranteed exit only based purely on musculature.
  10. And again when they signed him. Those Y*nkee fans sure love their sloppy seconds.
  11. I'm a little surprised Crunch didn't mention another series. I love it when some of the younger guys on the site piss and moan about having to listen to Joe Morgan call games. Really? Oh, really? How about if you were 10 years old and Joe Morgan's 9th inning flair to center gives Cinci a one run lead and your boys can't answer the call in the bottom. What a great team for a kid to watch, you thought they could do anything at anytime, and they had THE BIG RED MACHINE BY THE BALLS...monster game six, jump out to a 3 run lead, only to slowly, painfully let it slip away and f***ing crush my life, courtesy of Joe "Arm Fart" Morgan. f***er.
  12. The last three series have seemed that way, hasn't it? I wasn't surprised in DC, but there seemed to be a disproportionate number of Sox fans in Atlanta.
  13. I love the home team advantage at Camden Yard. Do you think the grounds crew asks Tek how much he wants the area in front of home plate watered before the game?
  14. You read this FO better than Buffet reads his charts.
  15. He's a tough mofo, though. He'll be a factor down the stretch.
  16. Boston is the perfect place for Jason Bay. He will get an attractive offer from a classy organization steeped in baseball history in the best baseball/hockey town in professional sports. Best fit for both parties.
  17. Crunch, What's the over/under for dogs finished by the winner?
  18. That's a matinée ticket around here, I think a regular adult ticket is $11 now.
