How do you know people don't keep up with the news, because we aren't posting political dissertations? This is a Sox board, if I want news I go to MSN, Reuters, newspaper websites.

The contract gives him year 10 in the organization. He's probably looking to get his number retired, it's a covered call of sorts. -

But he's worth a lot to us. At his age with his back he could spent several well timed stints on the DL and nobody would even blink an eye.

He was wrapped up like a mummy towards the end, and he still went out and did whatever he had to do. Just special, the face of the team for a long time. Amazing, quick hands, over 400 HRs - at his size with the archaic training they did that's some serious bat head speed. I would love to see what he and some of his peers would have been able to do with access to today's exercise and diet science.

Evidently, so did the people. Bonnie Ford referred to the drinking that's gone on during the Games as "like the Dante's Inferno version of tailgating". Wish I were there!

I thought the Canadians did a great job hosting. The piece with the torches at the beginning of tonight's ceremonies was a nice touch.

What was your take on the game? I thought Canada played great despite USA coming up big with the late pressure and goal. Canada looked like they were going for broke in the OT where USA seemed a tick tentative. I still think we could have won had we shaken up your goaltender a bit, he wasn't exactly steady. But rather than take a bunch of high post shots that we had, and have the off wing break in to the far post looking for scraps, we instead elected to try and set up the perfect play which really didn't materialize. The only way USA was winning was to totally out shoot Canada, pressure the goalie, and get him off his game.
