  1. well the yankee pitching staff was giving the rangers a run for their money. Joe has to learn that Scott Proctor cannot throw 5 games a week and still be usable. He'll extend Proctor, but he is scared to death to extend Farnsworth, who is bigger, stronger, and used to the workload. I dont get it....
  2. Posada is actually clutch this yr. He hasnt been for a few yrs...
  3. Trot is better for you this yr because he is a very patient hitter and he will hit for average. Wily Mo is not this hitter guys, and you know it. He is showing signs of changing his game plan at the plate, but you dont see a guy all of a sudden change philosophy as a hitter. He'll hit his highs and he will hit his lows, but as streaky a hitter as he is, you look for him to have small incremental changes. He'll hit you 18-20HRs this yr in limited duty. His average will finish up in the .260-.280 range, OBP in the .340 range and he'll show a much better walk rate. Trot will hit around .300, he'll hit you 15HR and he'll have an OBP around .360-.380 while playing great D in right. Wily Mo is your future who is having a great start, but he is a streaky guy and will eventually slide back into the player he once was. But small, incremental improvements are what you look for, and he is a guy who has already shown that. He will break out next yr....
  4. You wont mind having gonzo in the order when you are facing terrible pitching and your lineup can score 5 or more runs. When you face good pitchers, he will show as what he is. He is Mendoza, good D, no bat....
  5. Gammons was talking about how Schilling and Randy need to understand that they arent 30 anymore and that they need to adjust to the leage by using more deception. They wont throw 98-99-100 mph anymore. They can still hit 95, will likely sit in the 93 range and are ultimately hittable instead of being totally, blow away unhittable like they were in 2001. Schilling has shown a willingness to do this, but in key situations he still thinks he has the 98 mph heater in his arm. RJ has refused to adjust almost totally....
  6. Well, it is a bad thing because the guy is a bullheaded idiot (you love that as a coach, and no this is not a detraction) and needs to be saved from himself. He is a 38 yr old pitcher returning from a serious injury that took him nearly 18 months to return from. Tito has to know his limitations. If the guy goes out and throws 116-120-125-130 pitches he will wear down. Last night, he never should have come out for the 6th. In the Guardians game, he never should have come out for the 7th. Tito seems to want him to get one more inning, one more out, one more anything when it is clear he is tiring. He should be handled with kid gloves, because he is not the young horse he once was....
  7. you gotta have cy in there. 749 complete games? Amazing....
  8. He'll turn it on, this is his yearly thing he does. BTW, he has been solid in save sits, only blowing one. Mo dominates the dog days of summer and the fall months. April and May are his usual times of struggle....
  9. now this is one post I can agree with. I was grinning ear to ear when I saw him get brushed back again and again... (btw he is on my fantasy team, so I am torn beween my hatred for him and my need for him to produce)....
  10. did you see who was in our lineup tonight? They got pounded by the bad news bears....
  11. Walkoff!!!!!
  12. well, its up to Posada, oh well, good game and all....
  13. If they traded Ichiro, nobody in the world would even have a reason to watch a Mariner game. It seems like the only people who care about the Mariners are people from 8000 mils across the Pacific...
  14. now that would be a fitting end to this game. It would be very anticlimatic for this game to end like this....
  15. Damon gets on to lead it off...
  16. he never does when the game is tied or when we are trailing. He is a different player when we have a lead, I dunno what it is...
  17. Mo has been terrible when he hasnt had a save situation. Must be the mindset....
  18. He doesnt have the consistency of Mo or of Paps to this point...
  19. those are usually the games that end streaks. The ones that all logic points to a win...
  20. as good a stuff as Paps has, the best stuff I have ever seen just occured in the yankee game. Seriously, I have no idea how anyone actually makes contact against Farnsworth. 100mph fastball, 90 mph slider, 84mph splitter all absolutely nasty. When he is on, he is totally unhittable. But, when is always the problem...
  21. paps will close this one out rather easily. He has the easy part of the order....
  22. well, they finally disclosed Matsui's injury. A fractured radial head. The bad thing is, it takes a long time to heal. The good thing is, the radius is a rather large bone which can be readily stabilized. He didnt fracture a carpal bone, which I was afraid of. I hope he comes back healthy....
  23. arod had a movie made about him... http://www.mtivideo.com/artistview/images/Choke.jpg
