  1. 511 wins will never be broken 749 CGs will never be broken
  2. do you guys know that Matt Clement has the second worst ERA of all the qualifying pitchers from July 1,2005 until now and if you counted his playoff outing, he'd have the worst? That is baffling....
  3. btw, I am the one who chose option 3 just so I could see the results without having to hit the see results button every time. It looks rather unanimous...
  4. That isnt my point. My point is, if you want to bring up the steroid era, you have to at least consider the possibility that all players who have not been caught have an equal likelihood of using...
  5. I hope you guys play tomorrow. That'll mean Millwood will not face us in our 4 game set that we start with them on Monday...
  6. the steroid era did not only effect the hitters. If you want to blanket the league with the steroid era, then you must include the possibility that every player, pitcher and hitter, may have used....
  7. Cy Young started over 800 games and completed 749 of them. He won 511 games, that is totally amazing....
  8. I think Sandy Koufax would have something to say about that. But he was the most dominant pitcher of my era, and that includes Clemens. BUT, Clemens is the best pitcher of my era because of his durability and longevity. If Petey goes on for 6-7 more yrs as he is now, then he will supplant Roger....
  9. I thought it was pretty low of that site to say that. I was just wondering what sox fans thought of it.....
  10. The idea behind it is that once Pavano or Dotel return, Erickson will be DFAd. I guess Joe didnt want to DFA Sturtze and bringing up anyone else would have meant losing them for good. So Cash chose Erickson over Sturtze as the man to be DFA'd...
  11. just wonderin. That wonderful dirt dogs site is advocating standing boo-vation....
  12. Just wondering, will the fenway faithful boo Petey when he returns in 37 days....
  13. hey guys, you know what is great? Right now we are on pace for exactly 100 wins. The sox are on pace for 97...
  14. I think you are onto something. Sturtze was throwing 94 today, so his shoulder couldnt have been hurtin him too badly. Erickson has a 4+ ERA and a 11/11 K/BB ratio in 20+ innings. I think we are bringing him up to see if we can catch lightning in a bottle. If we cannot, then we DFA him. I would have rather brought up Mendoza, Bean, or Corey but then we would be DFAing them when our guys return....
  15. Becket has also had shoulder problems...
  16. yep, we are falling apart right into first place, damn...
  17. I dunno red. If Melky keeps hitting and putting good ABs together, I dont see how we can keep him down.
  18. Beckett has hit the DL more times than Burnett, although Burnett has spent more days on the DL. If you want to talk about one year postseason performers, Pavano was also nasty in the postseason that yr, and he sure wouldnt be atop my list of playoff proven pitchers....
  19. I think he gets called up as a sept callup and pitches in mostly lefty-lefty matchups or might get a start depending on the standings. I expect him to be the sox #5 next yr...
  20. this is related to the sox. The Yankees wont be giving games away on a silver platter anymore...
  21. I think you are being a little paranoid. Look at the programming. When the yankees lose it is the first story on sportscenter. When they win, they are an afterthough. I think ESPN actually wants both of us to fail...
