I never root for any Yankee. I like Mo a lot, someone else pointed out how he reacted by laughing and tipping his hat when the Sox fans gave him a standing O.
I also like Matsui, scary hitter, gives it his all in left and apologized to the Yankees and fans when he broke his wrist. Total class and a great work/baseball ethic that some American/Hispanic players lack.
The time difference alone isn't worth it. It's too difficult to re-adjust. And the Yankees did have a horrible April that year. I hope they don't do it.
I would love to have his talent on my team, just not his personality ...you need the whole package. His under-acheivment in NY has been worse than the Unit's.
That's all well and good. And even though I don't believe in curses, the Yanks signed Stanford boy in 2001, need I say more???
Choke-Rod continues to disappoint.
Yeah, really, w/ that starting rotation, bullpen and line up, the Yanks will be very intimidating. If the Sox lose some games in April, we may as well throw in the towel.
From Gammons on line chat today's Globe:
watson Peter do you think the Sox will really consider putting Papelbon back at closer? He's to valuable to risk injuring don't you think?
Peter_Gammons I think the risk will be determined in spring training both by Papelbon and the Red Sox medical team. I do not think that he'll go back to the bullpen, but it may end up a necessity
Hey Jackson. Now this is the type of crap thread I would expect at the Globe, shame on you!
Players have won and lost jobs in ST. I don't agree that ST is worthless. It at least gives you and idea of who your team will be in April, who stays up as a utility player, who goes down to AAA.
