Wakefield to skip a start Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff September 7, 2009 12:50 PM CHICAGO - Terry Francona announced to day that Tim Wakefield will be "re-assessed" when the team returns to Boston tomorrow. Right now Francona said they're penciling Wakefield in for the Baltimore series at Camden Yards which doesn't begin until September 19th, but even that is up in the air. Francona said Wakefield has suffered no setback to his balky back and calf, and actually seemed better than between his last start when Wakefield had to have another cortisone shot. But the Red Sox feel at this point that Wakefield needs to skip a start. "When I say re-assess that's basically what we're going to do," Francona said. "Instead of him going out and throwing a side we'll take a deep breath and we'll kind of see what to do. We have him penciled in down in Baltimore but having said that we're going to talk to Tom (Dr. Tom Gill) and figure out whether he can pitch every 10 days or whether that's doing him a disservice. We're kind of stuck in the middle and he is too. There's a lot of gray area here and we really don't know." Francona added, "I think he felt a little bit better this time than he felt last time. You guys see what we're seeing (limping) and probably more for us because we're around him. It's hard because he goes out and throws seven innings two times (six once)."

Well, that game sucked. Gotta get dolled up, the boyfriend is picking me up soon to go watch the VA Tech/Alabama game. I am SO not ready for football with so much baseball left. But I am in the minority. Have a great night all!

I guess it's like me getting all of the O's and Natinals games. That's good for me only b/c the O's and Nats games are blacked out on the Extra Innings package. That's the ONLY reason it's good.
