  1. Posterity: 1. succeeding or future generations collectively: Judgment of this age must be left to posterity. 2. all descendants of one person: His fortune was gradually dissipated by his posterity. Try Prosperity. Not to be the word police or anything.
  2. or staying on topic via an SAT question: Red Sox BP is to Gisele Bundchen as Yankees BP is to Bridget Moynihan - knocked up, humiliated & alone
  3. Ha! First rule: MJ, while passionate, is always wrong w/ his predictions. I wish I kept some of the oldies but goodies from The Herald. I vaguely remember some 4 or 5 page diatribe about how David Ortiz was a fluke. The one everyone remembers...the pitching prediction fors 05'. Hey MJ...where's your "We Got Randy signature?" He also owes me 20 bucks in our keeper league. I'm in 3rd. I think he's 9th. Felix Hernandez and Alex Gordon are serving him well. I'm fine w/ Reyes and Sizemore and Holliday and KRod...oh my. Signed...busting your balls since 2004.
  4. Say it's so. BTW....Dustin is cute and everything but Cora should be the everday at this point.
  5. I'm waiting for Kruk to offer to blow The Fraud at any time. Ok...yeah...dude's having a great April. And, there is no doubt he is an amazing robot baseball player. Like that Twilight Zone episode. Playing to the contract. Having fake conversations w/ the nonplussed teammates who obviously can't stand the guy. Smiling. Pretending to have a personality. But this unabashed coronation is absolutely sickening. blech. STFU. It's April. I hope he hits 100 home runs. And wins the MVP....because gosh darn it...people like him.
  6. I loved the Rooster. I'm not entirely sure I ever got over the three of them leaving at around the same time. Rough for a 12 year old dreamer. Lynn, Fisk, Rooster. Didn't get it. Still don't. I think at the time for me, Lynn's leaving was the worst. I'll never forget the summer of 75. Never. I think if you asked all three today...they would say the same. Regrets about a short-sighted view. Baseball is history. And history has a long memory. Hello and goodbye..Johnny Damon. You are now just a footnote when you could have been a legend. Not enough words why I love this team. I'll try to be more erudite when I haven't had 4 Jack and Cokes. But, they are just there every April through September (and the painful Octobers) for every year of my life that I can remember. And, it's spring. It's renewal. It's f***ing life is what baseball is. It's sex and love and everything good. It's hope. And that's all.
  7. Burleson Aparicio Petrocelli Gonzo was the best defensive SS I've seen personally on the team. I think there is a bet in the f.o about how many infield combos they can put out there in the shortest period of time. I also don't think any of the afore-mentioned moped on the bench during one of the most exciting and tense series in the past decade. Revisionist history and all of that and those guys played on a lot of 25 cab teams,....but Nomah lost me on that night. He's like the fifth Beatle. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. But there are no banners flying over The Fens w/out his exit at the trading deadline of that fateful year.
  8. I will say one thing about DTV...their end game music is much better than the tweedly pseudo Jazz we're normally subjected to. Right now they are playing an obscure Doors song. What I wouldn't give for one tiny blotter of acid.
  9. It makes no business sense. Short or long-term. This isn't about morality or an unalienable right to watch baseball...because for years those who lived out of market...had nothing. It's available. I want my MTV. That ain't workin. That's the way you do it. Short-sighted from what I can see. Kids aren't watching or playing baseball anymore. They are barely getting outside. Didn't grow up the way you and I did....with the game in the blood and no transfusion going to take it out. I'm angry at the flippant way this game I love is being treated. The most hard core fans in all of sports. We will be a dying breed. Clearly they are flush w/ cash "right now" Nouveau Riche. Do not understand the "culture" and if you don't understand the culture, you win no war but briefly.
  10. In one of my ESPN brackets I've only lost 2 games so far. Gonzaga...damn damn Gonzaga and Long Beach. This was after 2.5 minutes of research. I could not know less about basketball if I tried.
  11. implies. An example: You imply something asinine. I infer that while you may not be MJ, you do share startling oafish similiarities.
  12. Honey, don't forget where you got your name. I'm reasonably certain I have never carpet munched. Hate filled prick. (heart of gold) and just kind of confused politcally. Miss ya...but spring is near and spring hopes eternal.
  13. I flew to Chicago last year to smother Hawk w/ a pillow. Alas, I was unable to complete my mission. The A's announcers. The Toronto announcers. My third grade teacher. Mr. Crunchy for being such a ahole that he won't post on his home town site cause he likes talking to little boys vs. people who can actually speak Le English. Me for coming back here...just to bust SPH's balls. To Socialism and Animal FARM. And 1984.
  14. 1976 - Box Seats (the real ones above the Sox dugout) Guardians...doubleheader. Spring training that same year. Back when they were in Winter Haven. Met Pudge and the great Bill Lee and an ebullient Tiant and his dad and a curmudeonly Yaz. Good evening, gentlemen.
  15. Hmmm...I think I could parallel Rosey's or the Walrus cuteness...but I'm glad you won my darlin. :-) ...or :-0
  16. I'm really sorry Crunchy.
  17. And to make you happy SFOC (btw I'm from Bourne originally) I'm in. There was no criteria that the 10 posts be substantive, I assume.
  18. I'm in, although I'll need 4 more posts. I'll think of something inane, which shouldn't be too hard.
  19. You should have seen his predictions for the yank staff last year. It went something like this: Johnson: 50-2 .098 era Pavano: 30-3 1.12 Jaret Wright 23-3 2.52 (now who could have forseen a one year wonder from Atlanta not doing well..hmm I don't know... everyone) Moose: 19-1 3.32 In fact, the rivernator is infamous for bold, assertive, long-winded and incorrect predictions. Also, imminent rumors. I keep asking him for stock tips, so I can go the other way, but no such luck.
  20. I'd rather have a sure handed fielder at that position than a sure bat. How many of you cringed every time a ball was hit in that direction last year? The first half of 04, I was reasonably certain the ball would be caught or bobbled, but where it would land when it left Nomar's hand was anyone's guess. The only thing to count on was that he would look annoyed. Thanks beautiful. I was among the maybe 7.5 people who was thrilled when OC was traded for and to this day don't understand the reasoning for letting him go. I'm sure they are myriad and complex and the peasants aren't allowed to know why. Whatever. Burleson was the last good hit, great glove guy that I can remember. Then again, I'm old and the memory is starting to go.
  21. yeah exactly
  22. I assure all here that none of the individuals who have joined in the past few days had anything to do at all with the demise of the now defunct BH forum. In fact, most fought the good fight to prevent that from happening and to rid the site of the most hated trolls. It was a valiant but losing battle. We all have divergent opinions, personalities and perspective. I have been a Sox fan for over 30 years and enjoy discussing them with others who are as insane as I am about the team that plays in The Little Bandbox. One very good thing about the BH forum was a general acceptance and tolerance for new members unless they deliberately were there to incite. I understand the initial resistance to the mass invasion. Ultimately, we are all passionate about the same thing. Thanks for the opportunity to post here. Is it February yet?
  23. Thank God. I thought I'd have to go back to having a productive life after being cast into the desert and Exiled off Main Street. Classic, Crunch. Thanks TMW.
