Lester was HORRIBLE tonight, not sure what that does with this trade but he did not have it tonight And I dont like how he was left in there to get to 100 pitches, he obviously didnt have it and was left in there to get crushed.

I'm torn. I'm a huge Lester fan (hes been my avatar forever here), and his comeback story is incredible. He has the potential to be a #2 SP in the majors also still. Buehrle is a really solid SP though, innings eater, and a proven AL pitcher with excellent control. Beckett-Matsuzaka-Buchholz-Buehrle is an awesome SP core that would be locked up for a very long time if Buehrle resigns. That can match up with anyone which would be very tempting. FWIW, Kevin Goldstein mentioned specifically in his chat that Boston wont give up any of the Big 3 (Buchholz-Ellsbury-Bowden; Chamberlain for the Yankees also).

My bad , point still stands since that only makes Papelbon look more dominant. And I think the game where Saito blew a save vs. an AL East opponent should stand, or are we selectively choosing which games to include or exclude? In which case I'd like Papelbon's 2 runs vs. OAK removed from the records which brings his ERA down to 0.98.

Masterson doesn't get talked about enough here. Was ranked the 24th best player in the 06 draft by BA and was picked by the Sox in the 2nd round. Assigned to Lowell and dominated as a MR: 31.2 IP, 20 hits, 33/2 K/BB (16.5!), .85 ERA. Converted to a SP this year where he started off slowly, but hes coming around. Pitching in Lancaster doesn't help a guy but hes learning how to be a good pitcher there. June: 30 IP, 27 hits, 16/2 K/BB (8.00), 3.26 ERA with a dramatically improved ground-out ratio. Keep an eye out for Masterson, he's probaly the 3rd best SP prospect in the farm system.

Brad Correll is raking in Lancaster. In 24 ABs on the season for High-A Lancaster hes batting .333/.360/1.250/1.610 with 8 hits, 7 of which are HRs

This was actually one of the best wins on the season IMO. We get beat badly by Chris Young last night and face an even better pitcher in Peavy. But we bring our ace to the table and work some good ABs and pull out a big win. Really nice win, the fact that the Yankees lost makes it even better.
