  1. With Trot's religous roots, I find it hard to believe he would be into cheating. That's just me though.
  2. I think the reason it's not in November is because Selig and the organizers felt it would be too cold to play games in the U.S then.
  3. The only way the WBC will really work is if MLB restructures the major league season like soccer. The Premier league soccer season in England has international, European matches mixed in with regular matches, and it works pretty well.
  4. That Yankees/O's one wasn't that great. The Nolan Ryan one was definitely the best though.
  5. I read Halberstam's Summer of '49 a few years ago, and that was really good. I loved the way he described it: an epic battle royale between Joe Dimaggio's Yankees and Ted Williams' Red Sox.
  6. collegehumor's an awesome website
  7. Did you read the original book he wrote on the curse after they lost in '86?
  8. Aww, damn, I missed out. Well, have fun anyway!
  9. You know what you guys need to read is Johnny Damon's book, Idiot. Quality reading, am I right?! And it's not like he's a bad guy or he duped anybody or anything...
  10. I guess that really goes back to the question of what makes a hall of famer. How much do you count personality with statistics? It's a tough call for me partly because he hasn't been here that long. But if he did get #45 retired, I think I would be fine with it.
  11. He's in the leadoff spot for Tampa now though, right?
  12. He seriously has to be one of the DUMBEST athletes in sports right now.
  13. So you like Bonds because of his athletic ability then? What do you think about the whole steroids scandal?
  14. Carl Crawford in the leadoff spot...sick.
  15. That would be pretty sick if the D-Rays or the Marlins got contracted, and we got guys like Rocco Baldelli or even Hanley Ramirez back in a draft.
  16. That's because we're always ready to pounce on personalities in sports that we don't like, like T.O. and Barry Bonds. We just have to remember that steroids aren't just for bad guys.
  17. So if the Marlins could just move to a town where they could thrive, maybe there wouldn't even be a contraction issue. Maybe the Marlins could lend some guys to the D-rays to show them how to win too.
  18. There's Giambi, but I doubt he'll be leaving anytime soon.
  19. That's a neat idea, actually. I mean, the only thing the D-Rays and Marlins do well is change their name and have fire sales.
  20. Yeah, I was gonna say maybe they could cut down the number of games in a season and incorporate the WBC somehow during the season but uh.....way too much of a pain in the ass. We'll stick with the way it is now!
  21. That's what his motto is, the truth. He speaks what he percieves to be the truth and doesn't care what anybody thinks about him, even if he's way off.
  22. Oh, ok. Well, they could just have those odd teams out have a bye series or something. That's pretty radical though.
  23. I don't follow you. How would moving a team to the AL cause interleague play all year?
  24. I think Ozzie might disagree with you there though. In SI, he also said that he doesn't think any mangers are good. He basically said the managers are only as good as the players they have.
  25. I'm gonna guess you voted for Chicago as the city now has 2 votes.
