  1. Thome has a sweet swing, he might K alot but it sure looks pretty.
  2. The reason being is Greg Oden plays offense like a freshman. He needs work on post moves and footwork. So maybe you need to study up alittle more before you call for the ending of a coach that even got the Thad Thour together.
  3. You will see how Hughes does... and Roger, when he comes back to Boston. I'm not saying this because of the whole story that could go along with it. The reason he'll be back is money, the Red Sox will give it to him. Then after retirement he'll be doing some ads and public showings in Boston for a nice pay-check.
  4. I doubt the front office has any kind of plan of treating Paps with kid gloves. The doctor said/says his shoulder will improve with starting. We've seen how he preforms as a closer, the Sox expect an impact from day one. They have no worries about throwing him out there for 200 innings. Also while I'll admit Schilling will have a break down, I do not think it will be as major as you do jackson. He'll fit fine in the two spot. I'm a firm believer that Beckett will make leeps of improvement this season. He just comes of as the in-your-face kind of guy. Reminds me of what I have heard about a young Schilling. I dont think he likes to be known as mediocre. He will believe in his stuff more this year, this result will be a 3.5-4 era with no more than 25 bombs.
  5. I dont think it'll be one stand out pitcher the whole year. I think Schill and Matsuzaka will start out strong. Second half I see Matsuzaka being are only one. Paps will have some setbacks during the year, I think he needs another great pitch. Beckett though is a total unknown, will he get hurt or will his learn that his fastball will not get him by. If he learns to use everything in his arsenal, then we might have a couple of aces in the 08 staff, in Beckett and Matsuzaka. Paps I think will be a 2/3, he just doen't have the numbers of stuff like the other two.
  6. Just a tiny guess but I'll bet Hansen is going to be better than Proctor ever was.
  7. Wow? Why? I think it's a great extension.
  8. That's almost true... yes there is no "big" name coach out there that can turn around a team with just his signing. Though there are brillant minds that need the players to buy into the system. That's the key everywhere in the NFL, it's how your personal believe in the system and how exact they preform the system.
  9. Wang hasn't even pitched a meaningful game. I like to see him in Lowe's spot. A nice Game 7 for the ALCS in Fenways. He would bust faster than a 25 cent condom. Edit: Even without my rose colored glasses I can see that Wang isn't the first of his kind of pitching. I love when Yankees fans say that. Yes maybe he does throw a 94 mph sinker, but it doesn't have the bite like a 88mph does. Maybe instead of calling it a sinker, we'll call it a fastball with a sinking action.
  10. I never heard of Igawa as having a plus change. When he was bought by the Yankees every scout anywhere said he had a nice curve and a fastball that was very average, it wasn't fast and it didn't have alot of movement. Like you have said about Beckett, you cant get by with two pitches. Remember Beckett last year? He was able to blow by some guys and without the heat he would of had a 7 era. If Igawa has two plus pitches like Beckett but throws slower, what is that going to equal in the AL East?
  11. Paps had a SHOULDER injury; starting will prevent it. Therefore there's not a lot to worry about.
  12. Because he sucked while we were still in it.
  13. This is the deal with Hughes and maybe you do not want to see it because your a Yankee fan, he has only been successful in minior leagues. Yes he might has a great track record, but he is still a prospect and only that. My opinion is if my team can trade for MLB talent that can be had for prospects, then I would my team to do it. They can be called sure things, but the are not. Anything can hapen including some freakish injury. Also you can compare WHIP for minior leagues to major and I laugh. To even write that is complete ignorant to Rivera's great season. Hughes did it in minor leagues, half the team is made up of bums. Rivera faces the best of the best, no bums there. To put this in simple thems, if I could have Hughes or Johan to build a team with, I choose Johan everyday and twice on Sunday plain and simple. I'll go with the prove thing that's only 28, then risk it on a kid.
  14. I'll back that up only because they're in the NL Central.
  15. This is the only reason I hate being on this board. Some here believe in taking risks on players, others like you 700 simply do not. I believe in giving WMP his chance to shine, do not put pressure on him every fifth day. What I mean is because he sees little playing time he thinks he needs to hit homers every at bat to see another day. Let him have playing time and we'll see the next great hitter for Boston. Btw if memory serves me well WMP had exactly zero errors last year in center.
  16. Your actually correct, he played mostly left, but in the miniors and sometimes on request played right. Michaels played/plays right for Cleveland, but would switch with Coco.
  17. If this situation ends with us without Drew then WMP will start. The catch is, I think, he'll be our center fielder. We'll move Coco to right, since his defense isnt great in center. He played right and left in Cleveland and he wasn't bad. This is maybe for the best.
  18. Um does a farewell tour sound good to you. It does to me and I can see Wake breaking down once more. After that he'll be moved to the pin and hello Mr. Clemens
  19. It's all right, Wang is the only stand out. I think RJ is going to slowly fade out and retire after this season. Also as much as Moose is a professional there's going to be regression. Igawa might have a good first half, but will be beat around the second, still I see a 14-9, 14-10 record in the making. Finally I see Pettite staying at home in Houston, maybe the Yankees will just outbid and get Zito.
  20. I love how people think they only need to give a couple of good spects to the Red Sox and they think Manny should be all their's. Manny is a once in a lifetime player, either pay up or don't receive a first ballot HOF.
  21. Sexton or Beltre can't protect me. I rather have Drew and Pena any day over those bums.
  22. I would take Willis is a heartbeat. It justs seems to me he's someone who would win at all costs. I mean it is hard playing for a team who has very little fan support.
  23. Like I said in the other thread, Peavy, Kouzmanoff, and Green
