  1. So, you would get rid of Lester in favor of 2 hopefully ace like years of Lee. After the 2 years of Lee, Rubby, Owens, Renaudo, Cecchini, Bradley and XB will all be established stars or very good players? I think that might be just a bit overly ambitious.
  2. I explaine why. Making the deal has less downside. The only downside is accelerating a payroll increase.
  3. XB's growng pains may be just that, and he may go on to become a star. However, even if he becomes a star, I don't think anyone projects him to come close to becoming the offensive force that Stanton is. On that basis alone, there is a strong argument to make the deal and bring Stanton in as the centerpiece of the team's future. We should not be overlook the possibility that XB's difficulties are not growing pains but rather an indication the he might not be become a star. If that turns out to be the case, trading him now for Stanton would be a steal. In summary, if XB becomes a star, we will still be debating whether this was a good trade, because Stanton will be a mega star. If XB doesn't live up to expectaions, the deal would be a huge win for the Sox. I would eliminate the downside risk of XB flopping while being secure in my opinion that XB will never approach being the offensive force that Stanton is.
  4. In retrospect, the best and cheapest alternative would have been to let Holt play 3rd.
  5. My Jeter-groupie friend, shortstops have won the MVP award 15 times. Some of the recent names that you might remember are Jimmy Rollins, Miguel Tejeda, ARod, Ripken and Yount. As far as the Yankees go, Phil Rizzuto won the award at SS on a team that had Joe DiMaggio.
  6. There is nothing wrong with old school. New school isn't doing so great.
  7. Was Pedro's mini-me taller than Rosenthal?
  8. This Jeter sucking cockfest is making me sick. He was an excellent player for a long time, but this is not Ruth, Mantle, Williams, Musial, Mays, Aaron, Bench or Yaz. He was a below average fielder that never won an MVP, nor did he ever lead the league in HR, RBI, Batting Average, Slugging percentage or On base percentage. Enough already!
  9. Not a bad trade.
  10. One way or another, this thread should provide some good laughs in 2 or 3 years. Stanton is a legit powerhouse star. Take him out of that pitcher friendly ballpark and he will provide real fireworks. XB doesn't have Stanton's ceiling. As for the premium position argument, it remains to be seen if he will be a good SS. They had to move him to 3rd this season. I just hope that when we revisit this thread in a couple of years that Stanton is not launching rockets for the Yankees.
  11. Cespoedes and Donaldson are legit stars and the A's have a pretty good supporting cast with Crisp, Lowrie and Moss. Not a bunch of nobodies. Cripes, other than Ortiz, Pedroia and Napoli, we have a bunch of nobodies.
  12. I hate auto correct.
  13. Gomes has been in some trade rumors.
  14. An offensive spark.
  15. Victorino has played in 3 of the PawSox's last 4 games. Hopefully, he will be back with the team on Friday.
  16. This will not happn, because whtever is left of the Marlins fanbase would desert them if they did this. This will never get done, because it is not enough for the Marlins to get in return. It is a pipedream.
  17. Thunder, I am sorry to hear about your grandfather. My condolences.
  18. I would put this in the pipedream category.
  19. lol! Problem with my internet on this tablet.
  20. Great game to go into the break.
  21. I have Buch in one of my fantasy leagues and complete game shutouts are worth a lot of points, but it is pointless for Farrell to send him out for the 9th in an 11-0 game with the All Star break tomorrow. He's over 100 pitches.
  22. Holt with a hustle base hit beating the pitcher to the bag. He has 5 hits on the day. The kid continue s to impress.
  23. Vasquez hitting the ball where it is pitched. It's working out for him thus far.
  24. 2 DPs by Bradley today. The organization's patience is paying off. Lol!
  25. Yes it is by far. Hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come and not a function of the weak opponent.
