  1. Automatic Out, Jr Ohfer 4 tonight with another 2 k's. This is him having turned a corner? Seriously?
  2. I am still waiting to learn what the criteria should be.
  3. LOL!! Maybe if Yaz could pitch too. My comment was of course tongue in cheek. I have great respect for Jeter, because he did strap on the gear and play every day even when he was banged up. That's how Yaz was. In that respect they were very similar. I hope Jeter gets a good send off from the Fenway Faithful. It will not be the same watching the Yankees without him. I have told this story before. I was at Fenway for Yaz Day (his next to last game). As I was buying the tickets from a scalper, I got grabbed around the neck from behind and the guys grabbing me knew my name. I turned around and and it was old friends from High School. They were all Yankee fans and we had had bitter arguments through high school 1975-1977. I said to them. "Can't you leave the guy (Yaz) alone on his day?" They told me that they thought he was a great player and they wanted to be there at the event. I was flabbergasted at their show of good sportsmanship. I also remember that the ceremony for Yaz at Yankee Stadium on his last visit was also very nice. Jeter deserves the same treatment.
  4. I have said it before. Three rookies in any rotation would result in a last place team and a debacle of a season. Two rookies would guarantee 4th place and missing the playoffs. If De La Rosa gets some good big league experience over the remainder of the season, they could be successful pairing him with a rookie, but two rookies with no track record equals failure.
  5. Congratulations to Derek Jeter who passed Yaz to move into 7 th place on the all time hit list. Of course if Yaz slapped at the ball like a girl and was satisfied with opposite field bitch hits, he would easily have had a couple of hundred more hits.
  6. 13 - zip in the 6tg inning? This team is a disgrace.
  7. Bucholz has been so horrendous that he has all but ruined his trade value. He is under contract for 2015 with team options for 2016 and 2017. The 4 year contract that he was given after 2011 turned out to be a poor decision.
  8. Why did we keep the right handed catcher that is hitting under a buck ninety to pair up with the new kid who is also right handed?
  9. If those things plus 500 HRs and 1,600 RBI don't get you in, what does it take?
  10. The guy has been a great hitter for a long time. He is not merely very good. Of he gets to 500 home runs the only question ois whether factors unrelated to his hitting keep him fropm getting inducted.
  11. Great point. The Big Hurt opened that door.
  12. Yaz was always pretty humble for a superstar. He always thought of himself as just a hardworker who achieved, but I and others here can tell you that he was very talented. This is extremely high praise for Ortiz as Yaz rarely speaks to the press. He withdrew from public life after his retirement to hunting and fishing. He's not just blowing smoke for Ortiz or the organization. He's just not that type of person. I remember him hating DHing at the end of his career.
  13. Pretty much, Barrett was the A-hole in that case.
  14. cubs fans hate the White Sox and vice versa.
  15. salty struck out too much and was prone to horrific slumps.
  16. you are here and posting. Lots of bandwaggoners fled. Also, lots of people whose self esteem is too tied up with the team's fortunes have gone into hiding. They tended to be the real obnoxious big mouths. There is a lot of good baseball discussion going on here about the options for the future direction of the team. They will not participate in those discussion s, because their go to trump card that "the Front Office knows best" really doesn't hold water after this season, and without that conversation-stopper they are to cowardly to argue their cases on the merits.
  17. Automic Out Jr with a fielding gem!
  18. Not that hard to figure out. He had played a number of seasons with the White Sox.
  19. Automatic Out, Jr for the 3rd out of the inning.
  20. i have fantasy baseball interest in that game. BTW Has anyone noticed that Grady sizemore has been very hot with the Phillies?
  21. Walk number 5 with no outs in the 4th inning.
