  1. Clogged up payroll in this case directly results in a clogged up roster. Do you seriously think that they would not want to move Sandoval or Castillo at this point? I am sure that they have tried to move both, but they would have to eat almost their entire contracts. I would not be surprised if they had also made every effort to move Hanley, but after last year's disaster, no one would want him. So, yes, I think the payroll clog has also clogged up the roster. Do we need a fat toad on the bench who is making $17.5 million? I'd rather have another utility type with a plus glove and some speed. Edit: Plus, as far as I can see, Castillo has no role on this team. He is just taking up a spot.
  2. Castillo, Porcello, Hanley, and Pablo are 4 useless contracts up to this point. We have optimism about Hanley now that he is back in the IF, and Porcello still has an outside chance of earning his money, but they have used up a ton of payroll and clogged up the roster-- 4 high paid players with negative value is a ton of mistakes. These bad decisions have not crippled the Red Sox because they are a big market team, but they have hamstrung their other roster moves to some extent and clogged roster positions.
  3. Please, let's not blame every bad decision that happens on a sense of urgency. Most of the bad decisions will be the result of bad decision making, something in which Farrell has specialized in his managerial career.
  4. LOL!! Don't do that with my quote. I don't want to be targeted on FB.
  5. I already knew it, but it concerned me that he missed 3 times so badly that he gave up dingers. He is what he is, and that is at best a back of the rotation guy. He is not a #2 as some hope.
  6. His stuff is like Ruby De La Rosa. Straight fastball that needs good secondary stuff to be successful. So far, his results are similarly inconsistent.
  7. What I take from it is that his fastball is very straight and that when he misses with it, it gets mashed.
  8. I have come to despise everyone in the process -- the Dems, Republicans and the Press (including the mainstream press and MSNBC and Fox). Edit: And at risk of sounding like a Bernie supporter, I hate the Big Corporations and Banks. In my view, they all have the same goal -- keep us in our place and take our money.
  9. LOL! It would need to be a really big bag.
  10. So, he is right? LOL!! Let's keep politics off the board. Especially, in a crazy year like this.
  11. Elias is optioned to Pawtucket so Barnes and Ramirez make the roster.
  12. Maybe he can be packaged with Panda and a pile of cash for a pitcher.
  13. No one knew about this guy when he signed. He was a mystery commodity. Ben bought the hype at an extremely high price without knowing what he was getting, and it looks like he got burned.
  14. It can't be worse than the last 2 seasons --can it?
  15. I am optimistic that he will make a run at the Cy Young Award.
  16. He still was not executing even if the plan was just to throw fastballs or curves or whatevever. He was apparently getting too much of the plate with those pitches. Also, in your effort to make excuses, you are neglecting to realize the stage of Spring Training. We are at the end of camp. Pitchers are not still working on one pitch or another. They are trying to stretch out and get a feel for all of their pitches.
  17. But he clogged up the major league roster with many huge useless contracts blocking the prospects.
  18. I doubt that we will get a solid dependable starter like Shields for a bag of Panda.
  19. Worry about politics in your own country.
  20. We could have a rotation with Scherzer and Price.
  21. Quite a record of wasted payroll.
  22. LOL!! It wasn't Ben's $ either, and that is why he resigned (i.e. got fired).
  23. After one of Bard's bad Spring Training starts, when Bobby V was asked for a comment he said that "[bard] had that backing up third base thing down pretty good." LOL!!
