  1. Reading Pedroia's lips he looked to have said, " it's not me. It's them." Who is them?
  2. What is Buck doing out on the field? Can't pitchers figure out how to drill a guy?
  3. Fatboy sprained his knee and has been removed from the game.
  4. Pirates just botched a game ending DP ball. Yanks have bases loaded and one out down 2-1.
  5. No, I don't have a tape of that game. El Tiante was often referred to as "crafty" in his Boston days. He was never called "athletic". The description of his reinvention as a "crafty" pitcher is mentioned in this summary of a documentary about his life and career: https://m.facebook.com/notes/newbury-comics/some-good-news-for-red-sox-fans-a-luis-tiant-documentary/154383268929/
  6. Price might disagree with you about this.
  7. He definitely brought the criticism on himself.
  8. Agrred, but I think DD has some work to do if the returns of Smith and Thornton get delayed.
  9. The bullpen will be what makes or breaks this team. The offense is solid and the starting pitching is solid (and could be spectacular if Price returns).
  10. The bats will heat up as the weather heats up. The lineup is pretty deep, even though we don't have the big centerpiece anymore. I am hoping that XB will take his power game to the next level. That would make the lineup very formidable.
  11. You are really far afield now. What any of this has to do with the "dirt dog" "grit" factors beyond me. Let me correct you again, because you read your own thoughts into my posts. I am not anti-stat nor anti-stathead. I am just acknowledging that factors like "grit" set some stat-heads off on rants. Kimmi is on record stating that she acknowledges the factor. Other stat-heads are bothered by the term "grit". That is not an anti-stat-head statement -- just an observation. You state that I obfuscated in the "clutch" discussion. Why, because i didn't say what you thought I would say? That is just a function of the filter through which you read my posts. I have been very clear and consistent about my position on the issue, and it is a bit pointless to keep arguing about it since clutch cannot be proven statistically to the satisfaction of stat-heads, nor can the stat-heads definitively disprove the characteristic.
  12. Will Big papi start taking some BP and stage a return at the ASB?
  13. I still don't get your point, and your term "anti-stat" not only doesn't apply to a "crowd", it doesn't describe anyone.
  14. Maybe you didn't see his game 4 performance of the 1975 World Series. Lots of terms like grit and guts were used. He was also known as a crafty pitcher when he reinvented himself with the Red Sox.
  15. You have convinced me that you have good taste.
  16. There is a new thread everyday -- a Game Thread. Come join the conversation.
  17. Not to mention our superior intellects and winning personalities.
  18. They won the Division last year.
  19. No one ever called Luis Tiant athletic.
  20. A bit narcissistic.
  21. Do you have a stat for that?
  22. It is not all about you, Kimmi.
  23. That doesn't even remotely respond to my post or the "Grit" or "Dirt Dog" factor. I am not even sure what point you are making.
