  1. Cafardo on the pregame today made the point that Panda will have to be the answer at 3B. That means that Devers will not be coming up anytime soon. How much rope will Panda get before they look outside?
  2. Still no Hanley. Without him the lineup is garbage. Playing a rookie at cleanup speaks volumes. I love the kid's bat, but seriously, he should not be the centerpiece of the lineup for a playoff bound team.
  3. They are not playing for free, but there are some players who are naive and don't have a clue as to their worth. There are no naive owners. They are all professional money grubber -- no exceptions.
  4. Pedroia has the least speed of the top of the order guys, so I would move him out of the second slot, because he is the easiest for the opposition to turn the DP.
  5. And they should hire people to represent their interests or the owners would fleece them at every turn.
  6. Where the teams are in the standings in late June will dictate whether these teams are buyers or sellers. We will just have to wait and let that play out. As for the price for Beltre, maybe the Rangers demand Devers if they eat all of his 2017 and most of his 2018 salary, but not if the Red Sox are picking up the freight cost. If they want to clear a path for Joey Gallo, they might want to shed some payroll too. I doubt that they can land a Devers level prospect for a 38 year old who is owed $18 million for 2019 when he will be 39. Certainly, there is no downside to the Red Sox making an inquiry about Beltre as the season progresses, and we have a giant need at 3B. Other guys to inquire about would be Todd Frazier Moustakas.
  7. Players if left to their own devices would almost all be broke within 5 years of the conclusion of their careers. They are not professional money grubbing fiends like agents and owners.
  8. We are pretty much on the same page.
  9. 1. XB 2. Benintendi 3. Mookie 4. Hanley 5. Pedroia XB is on fire right now but not hitting for power. Let him set the table and get Pedroia out of the second slot to cut down on the DPs. When XB starts driving the ball out of the park or cools down, I would switch Pedrioa to leadoff and XB to the 5th spot.
  10. he pitched well enough to win last night. The defense blew up behind him once again, and the popgun offense needs 3 or 4 errors from the opposition if they want to put up more than a couple of runs.
  11. What the Red Sox are doing in rescheduling today's game is BS. I am glad that we will get to see baseball today, but to change the schedule on such little notice while denying any exchanges and refunds is heavy handed and very non friendly to ticket holding fans. In many cases, fans travel long distance to see the Red Sox. Some fans are flying into town for the weekend and the Red Sox are part of their itinerary. Other fans work on Saturdays, so switching the time to a day game means that they cannot go to the game. I understand that they want to reschedule the game so that it is played, but not offering exchanges or refunds is BS. How many refunds and exchanges would be requested -- probably not too many with Chris Sale pitching. The only people who would request a refund would be those who just cannot get to the game because of the time change. Coming on the heels of the FO so piously pronouncing how much they want to make the fan experience fun and safe and limit exposure to inoffensive behavior, I think the decision to deny refunds or exchanges is inconsiderate and somewhat hypocritical.
  12. That is right. The bottom of the order is not getting on so the opposing pitcher is facing Mookie with no runners on and frequently with one or 2 outs, so they are not going to let him hurt them in a close game. If they have a nice lead, he can only cut into it by one run, so his effectiveness is really limited there. Dumbass Farrell at least needs to flip flop Mookie and Pedroia to reduce the number of DPs.
  13. Who is beating the drum to do this now? That is in your head. We are looking down the road. Texas isn't going to start selling off stars in May. No team is, but as we progress through June if they are still in last place I think Beltre will be available around the All Star break. Generally, no one makes deals before the All Star Break. No one is panicking. We are just planning and shopping around. There is a huge hole at 3B defensively and offensively (against LHP especially) even if Panda is healthy. It is not going to resolve itself. A new player from within or outside the organization is needed to solidify that glaring weakness. That is not panic It is sound judgment based on observation.
  14. Team friendly contracts are for suckers. The minute you are no longer useful to the organization they usher you out of town accompanied by bad press so the fans will think they made the right decision. It is their MO, and they are money grubbing fiends.
  15. Kenley Jansen makes $!9 million/yr. Chapman makes $17.5 million, and Melancon makes more the $15 million. Kimbrel makes less than $13 million for a shorter term contract, and he is better than all of them. We did not overpay with money. As for prospects, Margot, by himself, was not bringing back an elite player other than a closer. There was no future for him on the Red Sox as the killer bees were ahead of him and all young. The other guys sent with Margot are minor league roster filler. You overstate your case against the Kimbrel trade on both fronts -- money and prospects.
  16. Moreland's AB was terrible.
  17. It seems that he separated his shoulder that he has had a problem with in the past. This time it is worse than previous times. Surgery is a possibility.
  18. This team goes quietly in too many games. They get behind and they are toast.
  19. Moreland is a part time platoon player. The fact that he is an everyday player with us and a major lineup piece reflects just how bad our offense is.
  20. Turn out the lights.
  21. The lineup is atrocious too.
  22. A GG First baseman picks that ball easily.
  23. More of that Bronze glove clanking balls by Moreland.
  24. That is just a fallacious statement. Margot is the only thing of value given up, and he is not setting anything on fire.
