  1. This Plan to separate Porcello and Sale doesn't appear to have much follow through. The Red Sox website shows Porcello pitching on Tuesday and Sale on Wednesday.
  2. A new manager might spark the team, and we could add a bat to help. I wouldn't back up the moving truck just yet.
  3. After the game, Farrell's explanation for taking out Pomeranz was lame, very lame. He tried to infer that he was looking out for his health, but we all saw that Pomeranz wanted to go back out there and Farrell was not being fatherly about taking him out of the game. He was angry and he was punishing Pom. His explanation was very disingenuous, and i don't think it will sit well with the clubhouse.
  4. Farrell needs to go. He doesn't even have the "players' manager" thing going for him anymore.
  5. So Pomeranz shows some heart wanting to go out for one more inning, and Farrell has words with him and puts in 2 complete pigs who blow up the game.
  6. It is hard for a bunch of tiny little Baby B's to swagger with attitude. There are few Pedroia's, and even he needed Manny's and Papi's to drive him in.
  7. They are a bunch of midgets. Our SS is one of the bigger guys on the club, and he has 0 HRs. On th bright side, more of our starting lineup could fit in a clown car than any other MLB starting lineup.
  8. He is supposedly healthy.
  9. Ben didn't make a good enough case too many times. The proof that the case was not compelling was that he didn't convince the boss. They were Ben's moves or he was unsuccessful in convincing his bosses not to make the moves. Either way, he was unsuccessful. Theo had a much longer tenure with far fewer terrible moves than Ben in his short tenure. As for Theo being proof of anything, he doesn't have a boss anymore. He is the President of the Cubs and the final word.
  10. We dump on Pomeranz, but these guys Taylor and Ramirez brought gas cans to the mound. They have been battered and pummeled in 1 1/3 innings.
  11. Offense is nonexistent.
  12. The Red Sox have always had problems winning on the coast.
  13. I guess that the day off is coming one day too late to skip the 5th starter. Next week the schedule looks to have the same problem, but I hope it works out better.
  14. Those last place teams were a torture.
  15. The primary reason was not to get Sale an extra day of rest. They are on record that they want to split up the starts of Porcello and Sale by having someone in between them. This is not the guy unless the plan is to forfeit a game every fifth day.
  16. Price should be up in the next couple of weeks which would solve the problem. In the meantime, we have an off day next week, so we could have skipped the 5th spot for another week. You don't split them up just to split them up by putting a complete tomato can in the rotation. What is the logic of that-- to forfeit 1 game out of every 5?
  17. The key to being a good GM or anything else is to be a good counselor and be able to make a compelling case to the boss to convince the boss of your position. If you are very effective, you can get the boss to agree with you and think it was their idea. That is what I tried to do in my career as a counselor. I had no authority to make the decision so I had to help lead the boss to the right decision. If GMs are getting overruled by their bosses on a consistent basis, they are not good at their jobs. If they have the data, research and expertise, and good communication skills, they should be able to get the boss to buy into their plan.
  18. Manny was the drama. The problem with Manny was that every season he pulled a work s*** down in the middle of the season. That didn't go over well with his teammates or the fans. OCab challenged him to a fight in 2004 if he didn't get his ass in the Lineup.
  19. Among the reasons that I heard as it was in its planning stages was to get someone slotted in between Porcello and Sale because it was hoped that it would reduce the strain on the pen from 3 games in a row after Porcello and Sale. Just dumb in concept and really poorly executed.
  20. if he thought slotting a pitcher in between Porcello and Sale would help keep the pen from getting overworked, he picked the wrong night to do it after we used 8 pitchers in an extra inning game, and he picked the wrong guy to slot into the spot.
  21. after last night's games.
  22. That is a good point. The ball normally carries very poorly at night games at the Coliseum.
  23. The A's have the worst record in the league and Farrell gave them a gift wrapped game.
  24. They have been plotting this for a while. I don't think it had anything to do with Sale saying anything.
