  1. If a sweep would be enough to seal Farrell's doom, I would be ambivalent about the outcome.
  2. Enigmas all over the league!
  3. He is a headless ballplayer both in the field and on the bases.
  4. If they can have a middle of the pack offense, the team will be fine, but middle of the pack will be quite a climb.
  5. A quick rhythm is a pitcher's friend.
  6. They all play by the book. Very few manage well to game situations. Bochy might be the best one in today's game. Last post season, Francona used Miller early and often for extended outings, because his starting rotation was decimated with injuries. Necessity is the mother of invention. After watching Francona's success, the copycats have been out in force this season. Farrell has used Kimbrel 2 or 3 times in the 8th inning when the game was on the line. Ditto Terry Collins of the Mets who has used Addison Russell in the 7th inning when he was the 8th inning guy, and he used Familia in the 8th. The copycats will do the new strategy to death like a formula even after it ceases to be effective or necessary. It is like how all of these doofuses do the shift to death -- even using it on .240 bottom of the order hitters with no pop who can rarely square up a ball. It is asinine. Last Sunday night, the Astros were up 10-4 in the 7th inning with 1 out and Gardner gets on first base. With Sanchez up, they overshift to the left side of the infield and hold the runner on first base leaving the entire right side of the infield vacated. There was just so much that was stupid about that alignment that even the clueless ESPN trio that was busy taking turns leaving hickeys on Jeter's ass questioned why they woud be holding on a runner when they needed 7 more outs and were up 6 runs. So many times in 9th inning situations where teams are up multiple runs against left hand hitters, managers will hold the runner and play double play dept at second and SS leaving a huge hole for a ground ball. Why are they giving the batter that hole and worrying about the runner when you need 2 or 3 more outs. It leaves you shaking your head.
  7. And they would kill it on Dancing with the Stars.
  8. When the weather warms up, he will start hitting HRs. I think he will get at least 15.
  9. Have you read or heard that?
  10. This Plan to separate Porcello and Sale doesn't appear to have much follow through. The Red Sox website shows Porcello pitching on Tuesday and Sale on Wednesday.
  11. A new manager might spark the team, and we could add a bat to help. I wouldn't back up the moving truck just yet.
  12. After the game, Farrell's explanation for taking out Pomeranz was lame, very lame. He tried to infer that he was looking out for his health, but we all saw that Pomeranz wanted to go back out there and Farrell was not being fatherly about taking him out of the game. He was angry and he was punishing Pom. His explanation was very disingenuous, and i don't think it will sit well with the clubhouse.
  13. Farrell needs to go. He doesn't even have the "players' manager" thing going for him anymore.
  14. So Pomeranz shows some heart wanting to go out for one more inning, and Farrell has words with him and puts in 2 complete pigs who blow up the game.
  15. It is hard for a bunch of tiny little Baby B's to swagger with attitude. There are few Pedroia's, and even he needed Manny's and Papi's to drive him in.
  16. They are a bunch of midgets. Our SS is one of the bigger guys on the club, and he has 0 HRs. On th bright side, more of our starting lineup could fit in a clown car than any other MLB starting lineup.
  17. He is supposedly healthy.
  18. Ben didn't make a good enough case too many times. The proof that the case was not compelling was that he didn't convince the boss. They were Ben's moves or he was unsuccessful in convincing his bosses not to make the moves. Either way, he was unsuccessful. Theo had a much longer tenure with far fewer terrible moves than Ben in his short tenure. As for Theo being proof of anything, he doesn't have a boss anymore. He is the President of the Cubs and the final word.
  19. We dump on Pomeranz, but these guys Taylor and Ramirez brought gas cans to the mound. They have been battered and pummeled in 1 1/3 innings.
  20. Offense is nonexistent.
  21. The Red Sox have always had problems winning on the coast.
  22. I guess that the day off is coming one day too late to skip the 5th starter. Next week the schedule looks to have the same problem, but I hope it works out better.
  23. Those last place teams were a torture.
  24. The primary reason was not to get Sale an extra day of rest. They are on record that they want to split up the starts of Porcello and Sale by having someone in between them. This is not the guy unless the plan is to forfeit a game every fifth day.
  25. Price should be up in the next couple of weeks which would solve the problem. In the meantime, we have an off day next week, so we could have skipped the 5th spot for another week. You don't split them up just to split them up by putting a complete tomato can in the rotation. What is the logic of that-- to forfeit 1 game out of every 5?
