  1. Maybe, but the early exit sealed his fate.
  2. I have not misrepresented the fact that you come here to be argumentative and obnoxious with posters using arguments that can only be characterized as inane and stupid.
  3. LOL! No, no poll necessary, and most of them (BDC) are good some are excellent. If it starts to get ugly around here, I put my trust in the judgment of Youk.
  4. Maybe we can get a third base coach whose arms and voice work, but we will all miss Butter's spring training charts and no one got to the ballpark earlier, except the groundscrew... who have a bigger impact on the team.
  5. He probably attributed BDC reaction to Talk Sox. He wasn't here when Tito got fired.
  6. I was mad at the players in 2011 too. They disrespected the manager and the organization by the way they behaved, but the truth is that even the best managers have a shelf life. Tito's had expired, because he lost the clubhouse. Even he knew that it was time to go.
  7. lol!!!
  8. That really didn't take long. Usually teams wait until the World Series ends. LOL!! No big loss. The players were getting too comfortable seeming not to care. That wasn't my perception. I thought these guys gave it their best, but others perceived a lack of heart and effort. I guess they were right. Also, the comments after the game by the players were disappointing. To say that they took losing in stride would be an understatement.
  9. And fundamentals don't matter. According to the arguments of the statheads, it doesn't matter whether our hitters come to home plate to hit in no in random order (only outmoded traditionalist thought demands a set lineup) and they can wear blindfolds like they are swinging at pinatas. Some of this s*** is really annoying and doesn't lend itself to a useful baseball discussion. As I have said before, we should have vetted these BDC people when they came over en masse. TS long timers have been generally overly indulgent and tolerant of the new members, but we know that this place is a lot less fun since the influx. They have been here for a while. We know which ones are good and which ones make the place worse. Most have made the cut and add to the baseball discussion, and some are outstanding, but frankly some of them need to get cut. It really is time to bite the bullet. We are very tolerant with new and existing members, but this place has become less fun and we know why.
  10. Since it looks like Farrell will not make it to the GM Meetings and could be relieved of his position soon after the World Series, I thought we could use this thread to commemorate some of Farrell's more memorable sayings. Most of these sayings, I had never heard used by a coach or manager. I will start it off: "Impacting the baseball". I always thought you hit the baseball. I had heard scalded, crushed, flattened etc., but never "impacted".
  11. Based on everything on Talk Radio and in the Press, it seems unlikely that Farrell will be back. That's okay imo as I think that managers are fungible and extremely overpaid. The shelf life shouldn't be longer than 5 years.
  12. I think CC will be starting
  13. One more piece of advice. You shouldn't mention to girls that you debate sports with old dudes on an Internet forum. They wouldn't understand that this is a pretty cool place. LOL! Although you could tell them that you are known as "Thunder" in "baseball circles". They might think that is cool.
  14. And if he had some field awareness, he might have realized that he had a play if he made the much shorter throw behind the runner at 2nd base.
  15. It is a little silly that he is equating your suggestion ofbannoff season move with Farrell's game decisions in the ALDS.
  16. we could certainly upgrade that position, but it would cost some money. It might be worth the dough.
  17. No doubt. I have been trying to compensate with sonar, but I need more work.
  18. Let the liner go through the infield. That is sound fundamental baseball.
  19. i guess that I had a bad angle.
  20. Don't ask me. LOL! Moon took it down a rabbit hole.
  21. If they lose on Wednesday, does Girardi get the axe?
  22. Thank goodness he is not a manager, and I think he was talking about an off season move to upgrade the roster. That would not be totally unreasonable.
  23. The Yankees have to win on Wednesday to preserve Girardi's job. The Yankees would have clinched tonight but for his stupidity.
  24. I would be willing to part with any 2 of the B's except for Mookie.
  25. I don't think Farrell cost us this series, or any game in this series, but his managing can never be termed as brilliant. Heck, our best hitter on the series was slated for the bench if Nunez didn't hurt his knee.
