Very interesting. They are probably much more highly trained, but yet there is still much imprecision. Things are coming more clearly into focus for me this morning.

In fairness, if Bailey and Hanrahan had been worse than they were in 2013, they never would have made AAA. Hanrahan pitches in 9 games and never appeared in another MLB game. My favorite was Bobby Jenks. He was in 2011. Theo spent $12 million on him and got 15 innings, 0 Saves and a 6.32 ERA. He is my favorite, because I was at Yankee Stadium for his quasi-last appearance. He got winded running in from the bullpen and then he looked like he was going to vomit after his 5th warmup toss, because the fat slob was hyperventilating. That was the last time he made it to a major league mound.

That means a lot coming from you. I would imagine that the ‘46 team was pretty special. They had the best hitter in the game, a strong defense, a potent offense and they had some pretty good pitchers. They didn’t have this team’s speed.

Gomes got better as he went along. He has good insights and as he loosened up, his dry sense of humor surfaced more. i don’t think anyone can take listening to Mendoza and that ESPN Sunday night crew. Unfortunately, the revival of the Red Sox - Yankees rivalry gave ESPN huge ratings. There should be a way to measure how many people turn off the sound. I would rather listen to John Sterling if the Yankees. He is so dopey that it is comical. ESPN is just painful.

There is nothing more demoralizing for a team or its fans than for the team to fight for 8 innings and hand the closer a lead and then lose the game. People value it differently. I just think it is silly to run up almost a quarter of a billion in annual payroll and look for a Dollar Store closer. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Criticizing a guy whose team finished first twice in 2 years and is on its way to a 100 plus win season in his third year is just criticism, but criticism of a guy whose team finished last 3 times in 4 seasons is hate.

No one else even comes close, and having that hammer at the end of their bullpen was a main reason why the Yankees consistently went deep into October. Lock down closers make a difference, and you don't dumpster dive for one when you have a $240 million payroll.

Abreu just hit a 2 run 2 out 9th inning HR off Britton to tie the Yankees at 3-3.

I thought that it was the best stuff that Oom had so far this seaso. That isn’t saying a lot, but his velocity was up a tick. The walks were still a problem. Even when Pom was money last year, his starts were torturous. He works slowly and throws a lot of pitches.

Mookie looking over his shoulder almost lost his footing. Most guys would have face planted if they started tripping like that. He has unbelievable balance.
