Let's not forget his clutch play and walk-off homers. OH, that was Ortiz. Let's not forget ARod's clutch play like killing the yankees last hope of going to the ALCS by hitting into a DP in the 9th inning angainst the Angels or flubbing a one-hopper in a big spot. That's right, the post season doesn't count.

I wouldn't trade too much of it right away. You never have enough pitching, and Schilling, Wells and Wake are all a little senior. Chances are that injuires will get Arroyo and Papelbon in the rotation sooner than later. The only pitcher I would move now would be Wells for prospects. But I would do that with a mind towards making a run at Clemens before the Yankees sign him in February and make us puke.

Posada has been in a noticeable decline in the last couple of years. I would not expect that to stop.

Rebuilding? You wish. Teams with $120+ million payrolls are not in rebuilding mode. If this trade goes through, you should be very, very scared Yankee fans.

It's going to be tough forhim to make the opening day roster, especially since Stern will need to be in the majors in April. I'd think about giving Stern back to the Braves.

In your opinion, he gets traded? He is fairly versatile with a decent bat. Maybe he sees some OF time in the Spring to see if he can be the backup corner OF.

If this trade is limited to Marte and Mota, I think we will be doing okay if we get only Crisp in return. Crisp is a bona fide everyday player with a good and improving offensive record. Marte is potential. It could take years for him to develop if ever. Mota would have been in a crowded Red Sox pen. Maybe we replenish the prospect pool by trading Wells. IMO we would be better off keeping Wells and having a rotation of Schilling, Beckett, Wells, Wake, and Clement with Arroyo and Papelbon coming out of the pen. You never have enough pitching and Arroyo and Papelbon would be great insurance against injury by the old guys (Schill and Wells) or ineffectiveness by Clement. If they all stay healthy and perform, it will be a very deep staff, and we would have some valuable trading chips at the trading deadline to fine tune the team.

I would not count on prospects coming our way. We have to hope that we are not packaging anyone else.:dunno:

You can continue to hope. I think it could have been worse.

Should have kept Damon. We would still have Marte and Mota. You had to know that they weren't going into the season with Stern, Harris or Michaels. Crisp was going to cost us, and it's done. I could see this coming from when Damon walked. I knew there would be a price to pay down the line. I'm just glad there is apparently no second prospect involved.

We need a CF, and the farm will not be yielding a crop for at least 2 years. There's not a lot out there to choose from. San Diego wants to stick us with Woody Williams if we get Roberts. That would be stupid. Griffey is old and expensive. Reed has shown little promise to justify parting with a top prospect. Matos has not shown much to justify gikving up Clement or Arroyo or a top prospect. Where does that leave us-- Jason Michaels? Steve Finley?

I've seen his numbers, and I am not completely knocked out by them, but everyone has been turning cartwheels about this kid. If we don't move him, I am really looking forward to watching him in Spring Training.

You bet. They sure did. Is it any wonder why he hated the press and frequently spoke about their negativity. The expectations of him were unfairly high. Last off-season, I was not happy with the articles about how Pedro had outlived his welcome in Boston. I don't think any fans were happy to see him go. The only group that was fed up with Pedro was the print press.
