  1. ..and if the Queen had balls she'd be the King. Sox took the risk on him last year. After off-season surgery, there is no reason to believe that he will be anymore productive than last season. I did't like the way that he didn't attack the strike zone. It was like watching an Al Leiter game.
  2. You have to come back to reality. The deal is done. Marte is gone. What I don't understand is how you could get so excited over a AA or AAA guy that you have never seen play, but you throw Damon under the bus, who played 4 years in Fenway scoring 100+ runs. I have to say that I am disappointed that I will not get to see Marte in ST. All the hype made me very curious.
  3. That is total conjecture and opinion.
  4. They were still going to have to pay the price to get someone good. Are you saying that if the sox gave Damon a deadline that was a week earlier than the Yankee deadline that: A. Damon would have signed with the Re Sox for 4/40 or B. We would have been able to get Crisp cheaper.
  5. Not if management thinks ahead like you and realizes that they have no 3B if Lowell shits the bed.
  6. The training staff will just have to plug his ass. If he still can't play, Graffinino could play there for the remainder of the year,
  7. So, to save a minor league prospect who has no chance of making an impact before 2007 or 08, you would be willing to field a team without a bona fide full-time ML CF for a couple of years and to have a lame armed guy in the bullpen with no trade value. Does anyone else see this as extreme?
  8. I am dealing with it. The others that are so upset that we have to give up prospects to fill the CF hole are not dealing with it. Did they think other teams would give us a good CF for free, or did they intend to play without one? While others were praising the FO for holding the line with Damon, I knew that it would cost prospects and $ to fill the position. Those complaining about the Marte departure should get over it. They are delusional if they think we are going to get Crisp without giving up a prospect.
  9. Jason Michaels would be your answer for 2006-07 until one of the farmhands is ready for CF? He has not shown that he can do the job on a full-time basis. He is not a starting CF for a contending team. I am thankful the the FO is not willing to sacrifice the possibility of a contending team in 2006 and 2007 to preserve a prospect that may never make an impact at the ML level.
  10. If we had signed him, we wouldn't be agonizing whether they are giving up too much for Crisp. Damon could have played two more years in CF until one of the farmhands was ready, then Damon could have moved to a corner OF position about the time Marte would have been exploding onto the baseball scene.
  11. If it falls apart, who will be the CF?
  12. Look at some of the threads before he signed with the Yanks, and you will see that he got hammered a fair bit.
  13. JSinger, this should give you some hope. Deal is not yet done: http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/ohio/sports/13689951.htm?source=rss&channel=ohio_sports
  14. Make that three. How was Duke supposed to know that the Rocket would start an exercise regime that would transfer his body and revive his career. If we could only have one top flight expensive pitcher, Duke made the right move getting Pedro a year later and signing him to a long term contract.
  15. If he is the next Bagwell, imagine how bad Braves fans will feel. They gave him up for Renteria.
  16. Dotel is coming off surgery and is a huge question mark. Optimistically, he will be ready by June.
  17. Wallace and other members of the coaching staff have indicated that they would prefer to have Papelbon start the season in the Pen. Wells moving is not a slam dunk either.
  18. I really like Sweeney, but he has a bad back. It would probably smarter if they went for Huff.
  19. Put me in the favorable category.
  20. Beltran was looking to get 7 years $100 million. A one-time hit to their budget of $15-20 million is much different.
  21. I'm glad he is gone.
  22. The Yankees will. You can count on it.
