  1. I'm in. I had been checking the Contest Thread.
  2. Maybe, but he didn't play it that way. He seemed to have miscalculated all aspects of the situation. Thank god that LL is the brains of the operation.
  3. The fact is that Theo was visiting the Fenway offices on a frequent basis. If he was the one exerting the leverage, he would have come back to a position with more authority than he had before or at least a new title and more money. It's good to have him back, but nothing has changed since he left.
  4. It depends whose heads are involved. Also, it is easier for a ventriloquist (Larry L) to control one puppet than two.
  5. Your first post and you are throwing stones at other posters? Not showing much creativity yourself.:thumbdown
  6. It could happen, but with prospects you never know. Right now, it is just a dream.
  7. This has nothing to do with spite. You haven't been following the thread. I and a number of other posters believe that we should make the Matos trade regardless of whether the Crisp trade goes through, because we need a RH fourth OF to platoon with Nixon. Additionally, making this move sooner than later would be a good negotiating tactic with Cleveland as it would show Cleveland that we are not desperate for Crisp. Mota has passed his physicals. The Guardians are engaging in gamesmanship-- a bluffing game. One way to counter this tactic is to make the other deal first and hold fast on our refusal to include additional prospects.
  8. Nothing happened. That's why he is back in his same position. He tried to throw his weight around when he walked, and they apparently did not come after him begging for him to come back. He soon realized that he had miscalculated and stayed close to the operation to keep the door opened. Finally, all agreed that he would resume his old position. By returning to his old position, he has acceded to the fact that LL is the reigning "Big Cheese."
  9. They should pull the trigger on the Matos deal, so the Guardians will know the Sox are not desperate for the deal.
  10. But at 1.5 million/year, it's not bad work if you can get it while you are on the DL.
  11. Mota's agent says that he did not flunk his physical. http://www.boston.com/sports/bas...k_at_mota/ This link says that the Sox could have had Crip, Risk and Bard a while back for Clement. http://www.journal-news.com/spor...dsweb.html
  12. I know that you are right about Beckett, and I suspect that you are right about the others. It seems that it is standard practice to complete trades without physicals, unless a team requests a physical. It is shocking with the amount invested in these players that pre-trade physicals are not standard.
  13. The Beckett deal involved an extensive review of medical records, but they never actually gave him a physical exam. I don't remember reports about some of the other players, but there were rumors about Marte right after he was acquired, because he apparently had not been given a physical either.
  14. Apparently, they never gave Marte a physical, either. I wonder if the Guardians gave Marte a physical in light of the elbow rumors.
  15. Why should we give Mota a physical, when we never gave Marte a physical?
  16. Do you think of a candy bar?
  17. He made a mistake and realized it before it was too late. I think he learned the lesson that you never voluntarily leave your dream job.
  18. I think this is gamesmanship by the Guardians similar to what the Sox did with the Marlins in the Beckett deal. The Sox should immediately pull the trigger on the Matos-Graffy deal (if it is available) to show that they are not desperate for Crisp.
  19. I realize that it can go to either extreme, but to rule out the possibility that he reacts professionally and has an average year (which for him is very good) is preposterous and it is insulting to him as a professional.
  20. Thrive or buried, but no in-between? Preposterous.
  21. How stupid is the name "Babe" for a grown man.
  22. I thought Roberts would be missing at least the first month of the season.
  23. What about as a 4th OF?
  24. I predict that this WBC will be a bomb.
