  1. Three reather pointless, personally attacking posts for you in a row on these boards. Take a deep breath, step away from the PC and go to take your meds! We don't need the crap that you are spewing.
  2. It was pretty clear what you were saying. Maybe Sox Fan on the Cape is in a cranky mood or experiencing low blood sugar.
  3. There's a thing called quotes. Use them, so we know to whom or what you are responding.
  4. Yes Parisians commonly refer to NY as the greatest city in the world. Afterall, Paris has little culture, terrible food, and no diversity. In fact, the world community has bestowed this honor on NYC. Where is NY's education system ranked? I am a New Yorker (probably for longer than anyone on these boards) so I am familiar with the obnoxious attitude that NYC (more specifically Manhattan) is the world and nothing else matters. BTW Manhattan-ites would not be caught dead in the Bronx except to go to the bedpan of a stadium that I like to refer to as the House Built by A Fat Former Red Sox Pitcher.
  5. New York is a great city, but it is typical of New Yorker's who have been to few, if any, of the great cities of the world to proclaim New York as "the greatest city in the world."
  6. He'll do well. His contract is heavily weighted for incentives. In the end, he is a professional.
  7. You are missing a very important distinction. While it is a business for the players and management, it is not a business for the fans. Fans (short for fanatics) are emotional by nature. Emotion is our investment in the team. But if we throw a guy under the bus, which we haven't done to Arroyo, he could care less. We are meaningless in the business relationship between ownership and the players. Similarly, it is not hypocritical for fans to be emotionally upset that Damon left for more money to go to our sworn enemy, but welcome the trade of Arroyo as part of the business, because it improves the team. I don't get what your point is about the behavior of Red Sox fans. We are free to like who we want and to turn on whomever we want whenever we want. Usually, we have good reason, and in the case of Arroyo, no one has turned on him, we still like him, but we like the trade. What is it that you don't get? BTW take your own advice and convince the other Yankee fans to cheer Wells when he shows up at the Stadium.
  8. Don't worry about Bronson. I don't think he reads our posts. It's just the opinions of our posters. If any of them came face to face with Bronson, I am sure they would greet him warmly and ask for his autograph.
  9. Hope springs eternal.
  10. This is from your crystal ball? Neither of us would bet our house on this outcome. It would be nice if he were to slot into the rotation in a year or two and be a huge success, but that is far from a certainty.
  11. You are right. Arroyo was a very solid performer. As a fifth starter, he took the ball for every one of his turns, and he put up 10 and 14 wins. When Pedro was in his heyday from 98 to 2000, the Sox barely had a number 2 that could put up Arroyo's numbers never mind a reliable number 5 guy. Number 5 guys like Arroyo are not as common as some might think. IMO he had not peaked. Although his k's were decreasing, he continued to learn his craft.
  12. Rivernator, you made some good points about the differences between this year's lineup and the '04 lineup, but the points about backstabbing and taking advantage of love were meaningless. This is a business. Everyone is out for himself.
  13. Above is my review of Lester's first outing. I took a lot of heat for my posts about Lester after his first outing. In his two outings since then, he has confirmed my original impression. The kid has a long way to go and management should get him away from major league hitters quickly before he loses too much confidence. Continuing like this could ruin the kid and his trade value as a top prospect.
  14. Nascar is not as popular in NYC as it is in most of the country, but honestly, even though I live in NY and work in NYC, I have heard just about as much about Nascar as the WBC. Diehard baseball fans like the people on these boards are interested in the WBC, but we are hardly a representative cross-section of the the US or even of sports fans. We are sick baseball fanatics. Ordinary people and normal fans in the US just don't care. The TV ratings have been and will bear out my observations. BTW I'd rather watch Red Sox prospects at ST than trying to figure out which Lee is which while watching a game against South Korea. 5 Lees and 3 Kims, that was pretty wild.
  15. First of all, Theo was not involved. Jed Hoyer told him that there was nothing in the works, and that was not a lie. They did not tell him that they would not trade him. Am I supposed to feel sorry for Bronson who has a multi-year, multi-million $ contract? Bad deal by Bronson. Not my business. Why should a fan care. Do we feel bad for Papi that he is grossly underpaid? It is a good thing to light a fire under Trot. He is highly motivated anyway. The competition will help push his performance to a higher level.
  16. Is this where I respond that I know very few people who are talking about it, and you criticize me for saying that my little world is not indicative of a lack of interest in the WBC? Please spare me. The hardcore sports fans at work aren't talking about it. It has generated little or no interest among the sports fans at my neighborhood bar. I don't hear much interest by the casual fans or the hardcore fans. I was at ST in Ft.Myers for a week, and I didn't hear much buzz about it in the stands. It's not even a big topic on Sports Talk radio. This may not be a scientific, statistical survey, but I do hear buzz in these same places about Opening Day and the NCAA tournament. I don't expect big US ratings on the Championship game tonight even though it has virtually no competition.
  17. Maybe the rest of the World is interested, but there seems to be very little interest in the US.
  18. So, how are we supposed to see it? Are we supposed to feel sorry for Bronson because he made a poor business decision or are we supposed to be mad at the FO for taking advantage of him? You still are not making any sense. How is a fan supposed to view this other than whether or not it improves the team?
  19. If I were to lack logic, that would not mean that your point was logical, or does that logic also escape you?
  20. Clearly, your point is devoid of logic.
  21. It is hypocritical? That doesn't follow logically. The fans did not negotiate his contract or convince him to stay in Boston, so how are we hypocrites if we like this trade? Boy, this trade really must have twisted your underwear in a knot.
  22. So, your point is that we should be unhappy about the trade?
  23. What's your opinion abou the trade? All this other stuff about loyalty is crap. Sure the fans will be upset when a star leaves the Sox, and it is not at all hypocritical to be happy when the team improves itself by a trade. What is your point? Should the Red Sox fans criticize the FO or protest at Fenway because they traded Bronson to improve the team? Just discuss the baseball aspects of the trade. BTW who is the 4th OF for the Yanks-- Bernie? He's looking a little long in the tooth.
