  1. It's great how you take my bait everytime. First of all, I would have continued with the play. That's what a "gamer" would have done. He would not have been distracted by the contact. My memory is that Sheff chose to swing first and then throw the ball back in. I would not have done that.
  2. I don't believe that they test for HGH, so he could still be taking it, and from the signs of his Roid Rage in Fenway's RF last year, he probably is.
  3. I don't know if I buy into the slowed bat theory. One scout said this and everyone on the message boards picked up on it like its a fact. It's hard for me to notice a decrease in his bat speed since I haven't watched him much in past years. His bat didn't look particularly slow while I was in Fort Myers. His timing was off for a little while and he was jumping out on changeups and offspeed pitches, but he made pretty good contact on fast balls. Last night he hit a curve ball, so he wasn't late. He had jumped out on the curve but kept the bat back long enough to drive the pitch to RCF. He's only a .272 lifetime hitter, so we shouldn't start jumping ugly on him if he hits .260. Hopefully, he will provide a little pop.
  4. I'd cut one, but not both (most likely Seanez) and bring up Hansen.
  5. Yes, but I don't expect him to keep hitting at a .450 clip.
  6. He's solid. Prior to last year, he always seemed to have solid AB's whenever I watched the Padres.
  7. I think Bonds has to sue to save his reputation and to preempt an independent investigation by Major League Baseball. Just because he juiced doesn't mean that he can't win a libel suit. Liberace sued a scandal sheet in the '50's for saying that he was a homosexual and he won the case. Even if Bonds were to lose the case, it would plant a seed of doubt in the mind of the press about the truthfulness and accuracy of the book.
  8. Rudy Seanez (3 baserunners today) just can't pitch a clean inning. I'd lean towards cutting him and bringing Hansen north.
  9. But you won't find too many lefties thrilled to come in and face the big man.
  10. Read the post immediately before yours. It's over. There was a misunderstanding. I guess you couldn't resist the gratuitous cheap shot.
  11. True, that he has not been striking out batters, but he has been impressive nonetheless.
  12. He's had a very impressive spring training.
  13. Stern can pull a major league fastball for a HR. Farnsworth has serious heat, and last year he took Jenks deep.
  14. Stern is making a bit of a statement with the bat. Maybe he doesn't go down after April.
  15. Weasel Sturtze, hitting Lowell. Sturtze is really a bum.
  16. Exactly, steroids are only effective performance enhancers if they are taken regularly for an extended period. It strains credibility that they would regularly inject these substances for a prolonged period without asking what they are.
  17. I figured that he would work 75-80 pitches tonight and 90-95 the next time out. I am not disagreeing. I am just not that familiar with the pitch progression throughout ST. His stuff is not outstanding tonight, but he has gotten better as the game moved along. All in all, an impressive outing. It's nice to see that he can be successful against a great lineup when he has sub par stuff.
  18. Oh, that sucks. Well, my comments stand but I redirect them to the bobo that impersonated Sox Fan. Sox Fan, pardon my comments as they were not directed at you.
  19. Is it customary to stretch out a pitcher beyond 75 pitches when he has at least one more start before ST breaks?
  20. Read the posts when Sox Fan came on the boards around 5 tonight. He hit three different threads with cheap shot unnecessary insults. He posted five or more posts where he acted like a jackass. I'm here to talk sports. Crap like that is not interesting and unnecessarily provocative. I have never had a problem with Sox fan before, so it's not like we have an ongoing feud. Tonight he acted like a jerk when he started posting. He may be a great guy, but even great guys have off-nights.
  21. Lot's of baseball being discussed.
  22. lol! He just came on three threads and hurled pointless insults at three different posters without provocation. I guess he is trying to ruin as many threads as possible. I don't recall having previous arguments with him, but if he keeps acting like a jackass, I'll call him a jackass.
  23. I thought so, but your post had so little content other than the personal attack that I really couldn't be sure. It really was a pointless post.
