Tavarez would need to step it up first and show that he can be reliable. Foulke has looked better and better every time out, and I think Timlin will be solid. Can't move Papelbon to the rotation unless there are three solid guys in the bullpen.

Pitchers that have taken one off the melon have acknowledged that it has affected their delivery. Pettitte said he had trouble finishing his pitches after he had taken one off the schonozola. I am not saying that Clement would not have sucked in the second half, but the head-ringer didn't help. To his credit, Clement never used it as an excuse. So a pussy he is not.

Well, we were right, and for once Terry did the right thing.

At least Wily Mo is a power threat.

Not always. You never would hear me say it about Schilling or Beckett. They have a good record for getting better as a game goes along, but with regard to the others, call me Captain Hook. I don't trust the 3,4, or 5 guys, unless Wells can come back strong.

They only need a good 6 from Clement. With an off day tomorrow, they can empty the pen. I would pull him after 6 even if he is going good. He seems to deteriorate in the last third of games.

The every day seasoning could have waited another couple of weeks until Coco gets back. In the meantime, Stern would be getting every other day seasoning at the ML level.

How did that piece of garbage, Willie Harris do in Pawtucket?

Ever notice that in recent years all the Blue Jay fans have gone to hide in the woodwork?

FO might use him to get Dontrelle Willis.

You can keep him. Sign as many 5+ ERA pitchers as you want. They all have good games occasionally

    Sorry. 12 year old wimp.

This thread is a joke. Why is anyone wasting their time with this.

His kids are basically grown-- teeagers and college student. Do you really think they need Daddy around? He was so serious about playing near home last year that he was willing to accept only $!8 million-- the most of any pitcher in history. I have said it dozens of times on these boards. Roger will follow the money, and that is in Boston. They will pony up the dough, and there will be enormous marketing opportunities for a farewell tour at the Fens.

You are barking up the wrong tree. I am not a Sox fan that complains about the Yankees buying a Championship. My complaint for many years has been that Red Sox ownership, prior to the current ownership, has sold a line of BS that they can't compete financially with the Yankees. They tried to act like a small market team, when they were sitting on tremendous economic resources. In my earlier post, I was tweaking the Red Sox fan who doesn't want to get get Clemens because it would be acting like the Yankees. I made the tongue in cheek distinction that it was different, because we were re-claiming our own property etc. Try to pick up on subtleties once in a while. I don't whine if the Yanks pick up a FA. I have been on record several times on these boards that the pickup of Damon was a good one. The Yanks should sign whoever they want, but I think the Sox should go toe-to-toe with them and flex their financial strength. If we sign Clemens, it will be the Yankee fans who will be whining.

    Wimp!

He stinks. He has no major tools. Stern may not be the accomplished basestealer at the ML level, but I think he is just as fast. I don't think Harris is a better fielder or hitter than Stern, so why not keep Stern for another couple of weeks and let Harris walk.
  19. a700hitter
It's a little different. The season has started, if you haven't noticed, and the Rocket is not playing for anyone or on anyone's payroll. Damon never missed a check. He was never out of work.
  20. a700hitter
Exactly, and he'd get some great experience. When Coco returns, send Stern to Pawtuckett to get his ABs.
  21. a700hitter
I was against this move. Stern should have stayed until Crisp returned. Harris adds nothing. There isn't anything that he does better than Stern.

I think you just sign up again and get a new card.

Welcome to another 40+ year old fan. Who was your hero as a kid? Yaz, Rice or Lynn or Pudge?
